Pietro was the last to get on the Quinjet, but once he saw Selene, he immediately went to sit by her. The girl curled up to the speedster's side, so he kissed her head, to which she purred.

"Alright, everyone, we're taking off!" Clint called out to the team.

"Got it!"

The trip was rather uneventful. Akal had fallen asleep with a Pop Tart in her mouth, which of course Tony got a picture of. Selene was curled up to Pietro's side, also asleep. Once the Quinjet landed, the male twin gently shook the shifter awake.

I was being woken up from my sleep, and it took me a moment to remember where I was. "What is it, dathúil?" I rubbed my eyes. The doors were opening.

"Follow me."

I did as told and, once I was awake enough to recognize where I was, smiled widely. "I'm home!" I got off the jet, pulling Pietro along as I did.

"Alright, you two. We need to go get checked in." Sam had Akal over his shoulder. The others carrying their perspective bags. Thor had volunteered to carry Sam's and Akal's bags as well.

Pietro and I quickly grabbed our bags then we followed the team.

Once everything was settled I wandered off. (I don't know when they built this inn next to the Hellfire Club, but it works for me.)

The team was gathered in the inn's lounge (except Selene and Akal), where Héctor was standing before them. Sam had put the teen to bed and the shifter had gone for a run.

"Pietro? Will you show everyone the boxes that I gave you earlier?"

Pietro handed the boxes to his sister and had her pass them on when she was done looking at them.

"These are heirlooms passed down from parent to child, when that child gets a mate. Mate bands. There are different ones, but these suit Selene more than the others."

"Why wolves? I thought they can change into any animal? Like Miss Frostsong does." Peter seemed fascinated by the intricacy of the rings.

"Typically Shifters live in clans and on their 21st birthday they're expected to choose an animal for the rest of their lives."

"They're beautiful."

"There are four original clans, and each one holds a different animal sacred. Flaming Claw big cats, Storm Breeze birds, Moon Lake wolves, and Crooked Boulder bears." Héctor cleared his throat. "Selene's mother is from the oldest clan there is, Moon Lake; the daughter of the leader in fact. But she was shunned for taking a mate after she was already promised to the son of another clan's leader. The Flaming Claw clan."

"Why would the clans try to pair a wolf with a big cat?" The female twin, Wanda, sat on the arm of the chair her male counterpart sat in.

"It was probably to join the two clans." Natasha shrugged. "I don't think they thought as much about the sacred animals as much as they did about the potential strength of their clans."

"Nobody has seen or heard from any of the clans in over 30 years."

Tony pulled out his computer and began typing away. "The internet here is phenomenal."

"What are you doing?" Bruce looked over his shoulder to see the screen.

"Research."

"I'm going to talk with Mother. I'm curious to see if she knows anything about the lost clans." Loki gave a nod to Héctor before looking at Thor.

"I'll go with you."

"Remember, reindeer games, be back by the full moon."

"You don't have to remind me, Stark."

~Pietro~
Once he realized nobody was paying attention anymore, Héctor shook his head. "There's one more thing, boy, the most important one." The Elemental took something out of his pocket and opened it, showing it to me. "A courting band. You humans call it an engagement ring I believe."

Inside the box rested a silver band with a nice moissanite held in a claw setting. There were oak leaves and a wolf on either side of the gem. "Okay? What about it?"

"When you ask Selene to be your mate, you need to give her this. It's a tradition that her mother specifically told me about. So, I'm assuming it's important."

"That seems like a fair assumption."

Héctor patted me on the shoulder. "Now go to her."

"Yes, sir." I ran and put the rings in my room, before rushing off to find Selene.
