Both Zoey and her parents seemed kindhearted. They also lived in a very nice house and had a cute dog named Biscuit that I had pet on the way in.
Zoey and I were both sat down on her bed, looking around the room, waiting for the other person to say something.
"So, do you have any pets back home?" Zoey asked.
"No, neither my father or my mother would agree to own one". I answered.
- It sounds like, they don't live together. Is that correct? Zoey asked, her voice was soft and reassuring, i could tell it made her nervous to ask this.
- Yes, they've been separated since I started elementary.
Zoey looked down, her hand reaching for mine.
My heart skipped a beat, my eyes widened slightly, I grabbed onto her hand and she leaned her head onto my shoulder. I could feel sparks fly around me, what was this?
- Well, I'm sorry about that". She said in a calm tone.
- Its not your fault Zoey. i answered, brushing away the weird reaction that her being close to me brought.
She lifted her head again and turned to look at me. She was shorter than me so she had to slightly tilt her head upwards.
"Why don't you tell me something else about you? I want to be your close friend Rowan so we should get to know each other more".
I looked down, scrambling to find something to say. Something that didn't make me sound like a total weirdo.
"What about your tattoos?" Zoey asked.
I laughed, "You care a lot about them, don't you?".
Zoey smiled and waited patiently for my answer.
- Well I got this snake one for my 16th birthday, it was all I asked for, so my mom let me get it. I said, pointing to the snake tattoo on my left arm.
- What about that one? Zoey asked, pointing to the spider tattoo on my stomach.
- That one I got for my 17th birthday, and all the others I got shortly after.
- Which other ones?
I pointed to the spiderweb tattoos on my wrists and then to my back, my tattoo of large wings was peeking from my sleeveless shirt.
Zoey stared in fascination then looked up at me.
- I always wanted a tattoo but I don't think my parents would let me get one.
- If you could what would your tattoo be?
Zoey placed her fingers on her chin. "I'm not very sure" she then laughed.
