I was trying to enjoy myself while Rowan was here, but I couldn't help but feel this overwhelming confusion inside of me.

I felt nervous around her but at the same time I felt so safe, as If I wanted to grab onto her and never let go.

What were these feelings? Ever since i had met Rowan two days ago, ever since we sat next to each other it was like my whole life had switched and I didn't know anything about myself anymore.

I stared deeply into her eyes, they were pitch black covered by a small thin line of eyeliner. Rowan was really pretty and I hope she knew that.

I looked down, I was still holding her hand, which I had done to reassure her while she talked to me about the separation of her parents. I looked back up at her again, meeting her glare, she was staring right back at me. It felt like time had stopped and it was just us, staring back at each other.

Suddenly, Rowan leaned in, closing her eyes. My heart raced, and I felt nervous all over again. As her face got closer, a part of me wanted to pull away, but another part urged me to move forward. I took a deep breath, leaned in, and kissed her. Our lips met softly, and the room fell completely silent. It felt like sparks were flying all around us, like butterflies dancing in the air.  This was my first kiss, and I never imagined it would feel like this—so electric and beautiful and for it to be with a girl. I gently caressed her cheek with one hand while she placed her cold hands on my neck, sending a shiver down my spine.

The sparks disappeared, the butterflies flew away and a wave of confusion washed over me and in a flash, I pulled away.

Once I opened my eyes I could see Rowan's face turn from a bright pink shade to a white tone, she was pale. Her eyes were opened widely and her hands were still placed on my neck.

Rowan pulled her hands back and stood up.

"S-sorry" She blurted out before running out of the room.

I stood still on my bed for a few seconds, contemplating what had just happened, revising it, going over it. Once the realization hit me, that Rowan just ran out of my room, I quickly got up and grabbed her school things from my desk.

I ran down the stairs and reached the front door, Rowan had already almost crossed the street to the next block. I turned back and quickly put on my shoes before running out the door and chasing after her.
