Right before the bell rung, Rowan entered the class and sat down. Luckily Mr. Harrison hadn't seen her, or else he would have marked her tardy.
Rowan smiled at me as she sat down next to me, once again stretching out her legs and crossing her arms.
I looked down at her, scanning her pale body and locating her tattoos. She had a snake tattooed onto her arm and some kind of spider web on her wrist. Rowan also had a tattoo of a black spider which was peaking out from her stomach by the way she was sitting.
Rowan chuckled then turned to me: "Can I help you?" She asked in a soft tone.
I laughed " Sorry, I just like your tattoos".
Rowan looked down at her arms "Thanks" she said.
"I am assigning you all a project on yesterday's history lesson that you will be able to complete over the weekend, because it must be submitted on Monday".
Mr. Harrison turned to us and continued his explanation.
"You must choose a historic event from the list of yesterday's history lesson to present. You may work alone or in pairs and I will give you the rest of the period to figure everything out, If you have any questions feel free to come forward".
I turned to Rowan with a soft smile, "Would you like to work together?" I asked, tilting my head.
Rowan smiled and crossed her arms. "Sure, but problem is I have no idea what yesterday's lesson was about" She laughed.
I quickly reached into my bag which was placed beside me and handed over my history notebook. "It contains the notes from yesterday, you give it back whenever you're done with it" I smiled.
Rowan's face turned slightly pink as she pressed on of her hands onto her neck. "Thanks Zoey, you're a life saver".
- No problem and maybe over the weekend you could come over to mine and we could work on the project?
- That sounds great.
I grabbed a pen from my pencil case and opened my hand, instructing for Rowan to hand over her arm.
Rowan placed her arm into the palm of my hand and I wrote down my number on it and signed it as "Zoey".
"Feel free to text me tonight so we can plan everything" I smiled.
Rowan stared down at her arm, her eyes reading the numbers over and over again before lifting her head and nodding.
