Kara Danvers was having a ... rough morning."I'm sorry!" Said the little boy that crashed into her, making her spill her fresh latte over her navy skirt.
That spiraled into a rough afternoon. "Kira," Cat had started, eyeing her up and down. "Never-mind, I'll get an intern to do it." She waved Kara off with a flick of the wrist. Since then Kara has been stuck editing a puff piece about the mayor's reelection.
That upgraded into a really rough evening.
"We have another one, Supergirl." Her sister's voice comes in clear through her earpiece. "Don't push yourself. We can handle the rest of them if you need a break." Alex's tone is firm. But Kara can hear the undercurrent of worry in it.
Kara stretches her body mid-air, a resounding pop from her lower back gives her a bit of a reprieve. "I got it, just tell me where to go." Her tone wavers a bit, hopefully going unnoticed by her sister's keenly trained ear.
A beat of silence, then a sigh. "The energy signature popped up underground. Looks like it's in the sewer system." Kara can see Alex's scrunched up nose in her mind's eye.
"Of course..." Kara briefly wonders if this superhero gig is worth possibly getting covered in...
She'd rather not think about it.

"These Lightning Beasts are causing the city's power grid to take a shit." Alex's calm, but annoyed voice comes through the coms again.
"Agent Danvers, it's very unprofessional to use profanity over the government issued walky-talky." Kara grins as she hears her big sister grunt on the other side.
"Eat my ass, Supergirl." At that, Kara lets out a very un-lady like snort.
"Fine, Fine. Where's the little energy bar at, exactly?"
"Jacobs and Main, by-
"Oh, that's near Lena's favorite smoothie shop!"
"Yeah, yeah. There's a manhole you can go down through."
Half an hour later and a lot more cursing, and a couple of 'shitty' jokes from her sister, "You're jokes are shit." Kara puffs out, her answer is a loud cackle from Alex. Kara comes up to a fork. "I'm feeling a strong surge nearby." She feels a tingling sensation at the tips of her fingers.
"Think that's it?"
"Definitely. It feels nearly identical to the last five I've encountered." Kara floats closer to the wave of energy she senses, careful to not be too loud so as not to spook the alien creature. "You know, they're kinda cute, in a 'I wanna boop its snoot' kinda way." Kara feels the 'Kara' when Alex sighs and says 'Supergirl, please,' over the comms. Kara shrugs
"One of them had you in its pincers, it was literally trying to cut you in half." Alex reminds her.
"Aw, it was just scared. I'd be too if the transport ship I was in crash-landed in the middle of a field on an unknown planet- oh wait!" With no one around to see her, Kara points both of her thumbs at herself. "Hey, that's me!"
Alex huffs. "Please focus." Kara chuckles.
"Fine, I won't keep the bioelectrical conducing energy beast as a house pet. She rolls her eyes. "Lena would let me keep it." She grumbles.
"Lena would let you get away with war crimes." Alex shoots back. "Do you see anything?"
In the near darkness of the tunnels, Kara can see perfectly. "Nothing yet. Though I am feeling the energy signal get stronger." She floats along the path of the tunnel, the tingling in her fingertips is now going up the length of her arm up to her shoulder blades.
