╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗That was so embarrassing!
I couldn't get the image of him getting shy and pulling the blanket up out of my mind.
It was pretty out of character of him. It wouldn't have happened if it weren't for this loser I was holding on to!
I bite my lip as our silhouettes leave Sasukes view.
Naruto suddenly pulls back,
"hold on, I forgot to give him his snacks, wait for me" he says hurriedly as he brings the bag of snacks with him.
This guy..
After he's done I wait at Sasukes door to drag him back out, careful not to make eye contact with Sasuke.
"let him rest" I say, gritting my teeth.
"Ow, your hurting my ear Sakura" Naruto whines loudly, echoing in the hallway.
"Oops" I say, letting go.
I suddenly recall what happened earlier, "Naruto why couldn't you just let him rest? You had to be your loud self which woke him up."
"It's not my fault, plus he's not a baby! He doesn't have to be tended to" he mocked.
"YOUR acting like the baby" I shot back as we bickered like an old married couple.
We get to the stairs and start to walk down, "What, do you like him or something" He asked cheekily, obviously joking.
"No. Just shut up." I say, giving him a look, even surprising myself. I don't know why I got angry, it's just because everyone asks me all the time about him, thats why. Right?
We get to the bottom of the stairs and see Sasukes brother, leaning against the wall drinking from a glass of water. His eyes flickered between us for a second with a knowing look, though he didn't say anything immediately.
"Oh yeah, Itachi, what did you call my name for?" Naruto questioned him, confused.
"Oh, did I?" he stated blankly, I almost thought he was joking, but he had a straight face. There was a slight tug at his lip with the faintest hint of amusement.
Naruto was clueless as always and simply shrugged it off. I couldn't shake the fact that there was something going on. His gaze stayed on me for too long. I clearly heard him call Naruto, I wonder why he's denying it? We both turn to the front door to leave.
"You know," he says, delaying us.
"Sasuke doesn't get much new visitors, I'm sure he enjoyed this encounter, despite it being, you know, awkward." He said smoothly, I felt like I was being teased about my encounter with Sasuke.
My face got red as I hid it by turning around to pick up my backpack from the floor "we just had to drop off his homework." I said.
His face had a glint, almost like he didn't believe me. Either way, he opened the door for us as we left, waving along with Mrs. Uchiha as we walked out the door. I was so thankful that this long day was about to come to an end.
"That was fun." Naruto stated happily, going down the stairs.
"What was fun about that, i totally made a bad impression! And it was all your fault." I was the one whining now.
"Relax, there's nothing to get worked up about. Itachi and Mrs. Uchiha loved you."
I sighed, "You think so?" As I looked up at the sky, realizing it's already sunset.
"I know so. Trust me." He said, turning to me giving me a look of sincerity."You're so weird" I say as I punch his arm, laughing.
—————-
We get to my house first, with mine being on the way to his.
"Bye Naruto, thanks for walking with me." I say, both of us exchanging waves as I see his shadow get smaller and smaller.
I sling my bag over my stomach to grab my key and open the door. Without a thought, I give a "hi dad, hi mom" as they sat eating at the table, and headed straight to the shower.
I take off all my clothes and I let the warm water graze my back, washing off all the worries of today.
I pull out my worksheets I didn't finish and my graded tests. All 100%'s, just like I expected. I worked on my homework for 2 hours, taking a break to go on my phone every 45 minutes. As soon as I finished I flung myself onto my bed, in a desperate attempt to catch up on sleep.
————————
It's 11:00 and I can't sleep. Every time I let myself relax, my mind goes racing from everything that happened today:
the fight, the bruises, the walk with Naruto, the kid who's in juvy, and going into Sasukes house, it was too much. I shift positions every second, tossing and turning, trying to ease myself into sleep.
The one image that can't leave my mind is that image of Sasuke, it clings like static. I push it out of my mind, absolutely not.
With that, I fall asleep.
