The next day, Elion went out to check on Emily's grave. As he opened the door, he noticed an envelope on the doorstep.

He knelt down, examining the envelope that was addressed to him. Inside of it was an invitation for the Mikaelson Ball.

Elion hummed softly and went back inside to set the invitation on the table. He wrote a quick note about it and left.

Elion found the grave in the same place he left it. He was expecting it to be a bit messy, so he was prepared to clean it up.

Except it seemed like someone had been cleaning it already. A soft smile rested on his lips as he took a seat near the makeshift tombstone.

"Hey, Em. I know you're probably gonna be angry, but I met my family. They're strangely welcoming to me," Elion said.

He took a small pause to collect his thoughts.

"Maybe it's because I'm a Mikaelson. But I've never accepted that last name. Even after meeting my dad," Elion added.

A nearby stick caught his eyes. Elion got up to grab the stick. It was a reasonable size and more sturdy than it looked at first.

He returned to his seat and began drawing in the dirt with it.

"I'm adjusting to my new body now. It took a while, but I'm getting better," Elion said, "Hope you're doing okay on the other side, Em. One day, we'll meet again."

A soft owl sound caught his attention. He looked up at the owl in the tree. Elion felt his smile turn into a grin as a past memory played in his head.

"Can you tell me about the owls," Elion asked, gazing at the night sky with Emily.

"Owls are a symbol of wisdom. Some say they can travel between the living and dead realm," Emily said.

"So... They're important to witches, right," Elion asked.

"In a way, yes. They can be used as a good omen in the right scenarios," Emily said.

"Well if I die, I'll send you an owl to bug you then," Elion smiled.

Emily let out a small laugh.

"I suppose I'll try to do the same for you," Emily smiled back.

Elion came back to reality as the owl flew away. He turned his gaze to Bonnie, who was walking up. She did a small double-take at the sight of Elion.

"Come to visit Emily too," Bonnie asked, sitting next to him.

"Yeah. I was assuming that her grave would be somewhat dirty by now. Have you been cleaning it," Elion asked.

"I know how much she meant to you, and she is my ancestor. When you died, I'd come here and talk to her," Bonnie confessed, "I'd ask her to look out for you."

"I'm sorry about leaving you," Elion said, a look of guilt crossing his face.

"You have nothing to apologize for. You were just protecting Jenna," Bonnie said, bumping her shoulder against his.

Elion went quiet for a moment.

"Did you hear about this Mikaelson ball," Elion asked.

"Yeah, but I don't think I should go."

"Why not," Elion asked, looking over at her.

"For one, I don't have a ball gown," Bonnie said, "Secondly, I didn't receive an invitation."

Elion hummed and stood up. He jabbed the stick into the dirt and dusted off his pants. Then he extended his hand to Bonnie.

"What?"

"Come on," Elion said.

Bonnie grabbed his hand, allowing him to lift her to stand. Elion guided her to his car. Once they were inside, they began driving to a nearby shop.

"Where are we going, Elion," Bonnie asked, watching nearby cars pass them.

"Isn't it obvious," Elion asked.

He briefly took his eyes off the road to smirk at her.

"We're gonna find you a ball gown," Elion continued, his eyes returning to the road.
