About a week later, Elion was sitting at the Mystic Grill, enjoying a glass of whiskey. He mindlessly listened to the chatter in the background.
Elion felt someone sit on the seat beside him.
"Elion Pierce?"
"Who's asking," Elion asked, sipping his drink.
"Your mother has requested your presence."
Elion felt his blood run cold. He looked over at the woman.
"Where is she," Elion asked.
The woman handed him a note.
"My job here is done," the woman said, getting up from her seat.
Elion sat still and waited for the sounds of screaming, confirming the woman was dead. He squeezed his eyes shut and swiftly got out of his seat.
He left the gruesome scene and drove to the location he received. Eventually, he reached the house, where his mother was supposedly staying.
Elion walked up to the door and rang the bell. Soon enough, an elderly woman answered it.
"Hi, I'm looking for a woman named Katherine," Elion smiled.
"You can let him in."
The woman invited him inside. Elion looked around the room before making eye contact with his mother.
Katherine grinned at the sight of her son.
"There's my boy," Katherine greeted, walking towards him.
She pulled him into a hug as Elion remained stiff in her arms.
"What's wrong," Katherine asked, letting him go.
"Mother, you abandoned me," Elion said.
"I did it to protect you," Katherine said.
"Bullshit," Elion scoffed, "You were just taking care of yourself!"
Katherine slapped him across the face at the disrespect. Elion felt his vampirism push through before relaxing.
"Watch your mouth. You can be angry all you want, but I am still your mother," Katherine snapped.
Elion took a deep breath and turned his head to look at her.
"You left me. When I needed you the most, you left me," Elion said, "Threw me out like I meant nothing to you!"
