That morning, Maeve still felt the weight of the night before. Breaking up with Cole hadn't been easy, but she knew it was the right decision. Sitting on her bed, her mind filled with confusing memories—the endless conversations with Cole about the club, the arguments about how different he was. Now, everything felt empty.

She looked at her phone, waiting, without admitting it to herself, for a message that never arrived. She dressed slowly, tying her hair up and trying not to think too much. Before leaving, she took a quick look in the mirror, wondering if the others would notice the shadow of fatigue on her face.

When she arrived at Heyward's store, she found her friends already gathered. Kiara gave her a small wave, JJ seemed, as always, to be trying to lighten the mood, but Maeve knew that even he was shaken by everything that had happened.

She sat next to them, trying to follow the conversation, but her mind kept returning to the end, to the feeling of loss mixed with the certainty that this could not go on. She sighed, forcing herself to focus on the moment, on her friends, on whatever was going to happen next.

–Don't let it get in your head bro, three of them, two of us –JJ said, shrugging as if it was just another day, though the bruises on his face suggested otherwise –That's typical Kook shit right there

–Hell yeah –Kiara agreed, leaning back against the counter, arms crossed, clearly still fuming

–What was your thought process, using your head? –JJ teased, turning to Pope with a grin

He mimicked Pope's headbutt from the fight, making the group crack a smile. Except Maeve.

–I don't know, man. I just kind of acted off instinct –Pope replied, his laugh breaking through the tension for a brief moment

JJ looked at Maeve, waiting for her to join in the fun –What do you think, Eve?

Kiara also looked at her, waiting for an answer, but Maeve continued to stare into space, her eyes lost, as if she hadn't even heard what was happening around her.

–Maeve? –Pope called, with an expression of slight concern

–I'm sorry... What did you say? –She blinked, coming back to reality

Kiara chuckled, but with an understanding look –You really have your mind somewhere else, huh?

Maeve took a deep breath, raising her shoulders –Yeah, just... never mind, it's nothing

JJ stopped tossing the orange and looked at her with furrowed brows –Is everything okay?

–You're quiet, Eve –Kiara noticed it too, leaning forward –What happened?

Maeve felt all eyes on her. She took a deep breath, knowing there was no point in avoiding the subject any longer.

–I broke up with Cole yesterday –She said, trying to keep her voice steady
