TEAGANWOKE UP to the soft, persistent beeping of her alarm, groggily rolling over to slap it into silence. for a moment, she lay there in bed, blinking up at the ceiling of her trailer, her mind slowly surfacing from sleep. today was the day. her first real day of filming with nicholas.
she threw off the covers and forced herself out of bed, already feeling that jittery buzz of nerves running through her veins. the table read yesterday had gone well - really well, if she was honest - but today was different. today, the cameras would be rolling, and every movement, every word she said, would be immortalized. this was when the real work began.
no pressure, she thought sarcastically as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
with the mug in her hand and the quiet hum of the trailer park surrounding her, teagan stepped outside, taking in the morning air. the sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm, golden light across the lot. it should've been calming, but the energy inside her felt anything but. a million thoughts were swirling in her head - lines she had memorized, expressions she needed to hit just right, and most of all, nicholas. he'd been so effortlessly charismatic during the read. he made it all seem so easy. but there was a weight in the air today, something she couldn't quite name.
taking a sip of her coffee, teagan turned to head towards the set, her focus finally zeroing in on the day ahead. but as she passed by the trailer next to hers - nicholas's trailer - something made her stop.
a voice, low and frustrated, drifted from inside. nicholas.
teagan's steps faltered, and though she knew it was wrong, she couldn't help but listen. the tone in his voice was tense, a sharp contrast to the easygoing charm he always seemed to carry. "lauren, it's just a job. i told you that."
teagan's stomach clenched. oh no.
the last thing she wanted was to get involved in whatever this was, but she was rooted to the spot, unwillingly drawn into the conversation. she could almost hear lauren's muffled voice on the other end, though the words were too quiet to make out. the frustration in nicholas's tone, however, was unmistakable.
