missed calls. texts. instagram dms stacked in clusters. he tapped on one notification from an entertainment account and immediately felt a chill settle in his stomach. a new gossip article had surfaced overnight, and the headline glared back at him with ruthless clarity:

"last night, nicholas chavez was spotted leaving an upscale restaurant with long-time girlfriend and youtuber lauren tanner. and things got heated. an insider close to the couple captured the exclusive conversation (full transcript below!), revealing that lauren had made him choose between their relationship and his professional partnership with costar teagan christensen. from nicholas's reaction, it looks like he's decided in favor of lauren, implying he will be distancing himself from teagan to 'keep things professional.'"
the article had also compiled a sequence of images from the night before - him and lauren leaving the restaurant, them arguing, even one of lauren touching his arm as she tried to make him remember their old times. but that wasn't the end. at the end of the article, in plain sight, was a photo of them kissing, just outside the door of the restaurant, right after nicholas declared he'd keep everything professional with teagan from that moment on. the images were invasive enough, but it was the snippets of their conversation that made his stomach sink even further. they hadn't only taken photos; they'd caught pieces of dialogue, including lauren's ultimatum.
