Madeline's POV
I pulled up out the front of an old, rusted, worn down building. The engine cut and I climbed out, shutting the door behind me. Bursts of light tore through the windows and I began racing toward the warehouse. My shoes echoed across the deserted street stepping up slightly as they connected with the curb of the road. I heard one of Alex's screams and, without thinking, began sprinting toward the doors of the worn down, old, musty looking warehouse. Completely forgetting the rain that had spread itself across the dark concrete, I fell. I opened my eyes one at a time, concerned as to why I was hovering not three inches from the hard ground.
I felt a strain against my waist as I was hauled up from the near concrete and as I turned to meet my saviour, I couldn't help but to let out one single gasp before his familiar face tilted to the side and his hands gripped, one at my chin and the other at the back of my neck, and then...
Alex's POV
My heart splintered, cracked, crumbled into nothing. I knew at that moment Niall was the only thing keeping me upright. Any sliver of optimism I had, fled from within me and somehow I just knew that my ability wasn't that powerful.
"Niall," I spoke a quiver clear in my voice, "is there any other way..." I didn't have to finish. I looked up at him and his eyes drifted down to me.
"I know you're against it, but the only other way is to bite her. The only way for her to be alive again is to be dead." Was that really the answer? What could possibly go wrong?
"Do it."
Several hours earlier
"This is risky Marc--" I groaned and whoever was talking stopped. My eyes fluttered open, desperately trying to adjust to the light. Her voice slipped to a whisper and I could barely make it out, "we shouldn't be using them when she's here."
"She doesn't even know the extent of her abilities or how to control them, or should I say 'them'?" He was mocking her, and underestimating me.
"I hope you realise that your whispering skills need some practice," her head snapped over to me and she stalked toward me, anger flaring like a wild bush fire in her eyes.
Her hand then cracked against my cheek, the sting not kicking in for a few seconds, but when it did, boy did it hurt?
"I don't believe I said you could open your cute little mouth there, did I?" My eyes widened in horror and I shook my head. "Good girl."
Abby walked back over to Harry--er--Marcel and they started talking indistinctly, and I strained to hear only mumbles coming from their mouths. She then quickly walked away while Marcel continued staring at me, his lips curled up in a wicked smile. Abby returned with a large black bowl, placing it on the ground. She reached up to the pendant that hung around her neck. Revealing that it was a locket, she opened it, taking, what appeared to be, black dust from inside and threw it on top of the items already in the bowl. It sparked up, creating a massive red flame that quickly turned black. The smoke that was created whipped around, swirling into shadow.
A singular black figure stirred to life out of the fog, shadows reeling around the unfamiliar silhouette. It lurched forward before leaning toward the ceiling, it's arms outstretched, and let out an unearthly howl. I involuntarily shrieked and cowered against my restraints as the creature turned towards me, tilted it's head to the side and then vanished in a gust of dark mist.
A wave of cold erupted against my skin and I shivered, looking down to find that I was now wearing a small, black tank top and a pair of ripped, old looking jeans. THEY HAD DRESSED ME WHILE I WAS UNCONSCIOUS?!! I had the urge to cover myself with my hands but, was restricted by the metal chain around my wrists, which were situated, loosely, above my head.
I was sure that at least a couple of hours had passed when I began to hear the sounds of fighting coming from outside the building. I could hear gunshots firing as if they were right next to my ear. Following the fire of each bullet was the sound of a pained cry and a blinding light.
I felt a hand press against my abdomen and recoiled into the air behind me, only to have another hand grip my mouth.
"Shhhh," a male voice spoke into my ear, "it's me. It's okay, now." It was Louis. I let out a sigh in relief until I heard him groan and began feeling an intense stinging sensation where his hand was.
I whimpered in pain and looked down to see a small dagger logged into my side. The blade buried deep into my stomach.
"Oh, I don't think so," Abby appeared from out of nowhere with several more daggers, "I've been meaning to work on my aim but, I've just never gotten around to it. I suppose now is as good a time as any."
She threw another and as it travelled through the air I felt Louis spin me so that his back faced Abby. He groaned. He hissed an groaned several more times before Abby appeared in front of us. Louis had saved me, at his own expense, and I felt horrible for letting him do so without any complaint.
"It seems I've run out of blades. Oh well," she said before she aggressively tugged on the dagger that had dug into my side, turning it with a smirk.
I screamed out in agony and I knew it wouldn't be the last time tonight. Louis' painful breaths were drowned out in my cries. I could already feel the lack of blood start to drain the life out of me. My vision beginning to blur and my hearing becoming dull.
I woke up on top of a tilted table, quickly realising that my wrists and ankles were strapped against the cold metal surface. My eyes scanned the area in front of me, finding a few plastic chairs occupied with the bodies of Niall, Louis, and Liam. Where's Zayn?
Oh god? If he had anything to do with this. Or if Maddy's back at the house with him... What would he do?
My eyes hovered over to Niall, wanting him to read my thoughts, but as my vision rested on him I saw Abby standing above him with her hands in mid-air on either side of his head. His eyes rolled back in his head and his jaw clenched.I became frantic, struggling against my restraints.
His hands were crushing, clutching against the sides of his flimsy seat.
"What are you doing to him!" I shouted, and that's when I heard the soft chants coming from her parted mouth.
Her eyes opened and she clumsily stepped away. I watched in horror as Niall opened his eyes, the stare of his pale yellow gaze drowning into me.
