The morning came swiftly, and with it came the reaping for the 65th hunger games.

As finnick departed to stand with the fourteen year old boys, he hugged his brother than Avery saying a quick good luck and then he was gone.

Avery then turned to Caspian saying the same after hugging him. They then split to go to the thirteen year old boys and girls' sides.

As their escort Liberty Hue came out, dressed from head to toe in canary yellow. Her yellow hair sparkling like it was dusted with diamonds. And her nails 6 inches long wrapping around the microphone, Avery felt a pit in her stomach she hadn't felt in the years prior and it made her frantic eyes search the crowd looking for Caspian or Finnick.

Her eyes met Caspians seafoam blue ones first and he gave her a confused look.

Shaking her head at him as she started hyperventilating she continued to search the crowd.
Then once her scared dark green eyes met, finnicks concerned sea green ones. He mouthed to her

"Breath Aves."

Then using his hand to motion up and down in front of his chest like deep breaths.

Taking a few deep breaths, she nodded at him and he nodded back. So she turned around to face front again. Still taking shaky breaths, and trying to figure out why this year was freaking her out.

Looking up and realizing she'd missed the whole capital video, her eyes locked back on the bright yellow escort as she made her way to the girls bowl.

"As tradition ladies first" She said her high pitch voice makes Avery slightly cringe.

"District fours female tribute is.... Maisie Langcroft!

Letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding Avery rubbed her hands together.
The sickly feeling in her stomach not leaving her as liberty greeted the tall sixteen year old girl before moving on the the bowl holding the male names, her friends names.

Walking back up to the microphone, Liberty cleared her throat while opening the slip in her hand.

"And district fours male tribute is..."

Then when the next words came out of her mouth everything stopped.
Avery wished she could just shove them back in. Meeting the teary eyes of her best friend she felt a tear sliping from her own.

Then it hit her why this year had her freaking out as her and Caspian both looked back to the 14 year old a few rows behind them.

"...Finnick Odair!"

The crowd dispersed after Finnick and Maisie shook hands and were taken away, Caspian grasped Avery's hand and dragged her from where she still stood frozen staring at where Finnick had disappeared from.

"Aves come on! Pick up your feet, we have to find my mom!"

Avery, hearing the fear in his voice pulled herself back to reality.
After a few moments the found Lillian tears streaking down her beautiful face.

"Mom. Mom!" Caspian yelled pulling his mother's attention as he ran up hugging her.

"Come on kids, family gets to see the tributes before the board the train." She said grasping each of their hands and bringing the with her to the justice building where Finnick would be.

When they got to the room Finnick would be in peacekeepers stopped them motioning to Avery.

"Family only." One said.

Lillian looked at him scoldingly
"Well she's as good as. She's been best friends with my boys their whole lives!"

"Family only" He repeated again, making Avery sigh and let go of Lillian's hand.

"It's okay Lily, just tell him I'm rooting for him okay?"

Lillian looked to the young girl with pity but she obeyed not wanting to wates the time she had left with her son.

"I will, lovely."

And with that she watched the pair walk in catching a glimpse of Finnick, stopping his pacing to face his family as the door closed.
