Avery and Caspian watch every minute possible of Finnicks games. Rooting for him with every fight, and holding their breath when things start to not look good.

It's been five days since the bloodbath, and half the tributs are already gone. Including the boy from one in the career pack when he was stung by a poison plant trying to get to a kill first. Effectively pushing Finnick out of the way and inadvertently saving his life.

"Did you see that Aves! And I though Fin was cocky!" Caspian said with a laugh as the rest of the careers realized what was happening.

"Cocky definitely, but hes not stupid Cas. He's playing it safe. Playing smart." The redhead responded looking up at him from her spot in his lap.

Lillian couldn't bare watching it after the bloodbath. She watched Finnick go down the boy from 7 holding an age only inches from his face.

After seeing that and feeling so helpless she said it was better to not see.
So Caspian just let her know every evening at dinner, that finnick is still alive, and made it another day.

As they walked back to the Odair house after going to the market. Caspian perked up pointing at the screen in town square showing the games.

"Aves! Avery look! Fin got a sponsor gift!"

Avery looked up in time to see finnick catch a beautiful silver trident out of the air.

"What?! Weapons are the most expensive thing to send a tribute!!" She gasped.

"This gives him a serious advantage Aves, he was lucky enough there's a lake in the arena, now he just needs to get away from the careers before they're all that's left!"

"Come on let's get back. I'm sure mom will be thrilled!" Caspian said grabbing her hand and running there's of the way home.

Caspian while watching late that night, he notices his brother has often been staring at the shell necklace he brought as his token.

When things get quiet in the games, usually after Avery falls asleep on the couch next to him. He'd watch his brother pull it from under his shirt, and turn it over a few times before putting it back.

He noted the Finnick had absent-mindedly touched it durning his interview as well. When Ceasar Fickerman had asked him if there was a girl back home. Finnick had said 'not really' but Caspian knew his brother and watched his ears turn pink.

Realizing just then, that it was the same necklace Avery had made two years prior.
Caspian gasped, before a smile made its way to his face.

"Finny boy how'd you manage to get that i wonder?"

He smiled over at his half asleep best friend thinking. "She just might have a chance."

The next night while Cas was making them a late night snack Avery called him back into the room.

"Cas come quick! Look at this!"

Running back and looking at the screen he saw his brother who was on watch for the careers while they slept, sneaking away from their camp.
Taking a few of the weapons they had lying around, and all their rope with him.

"He's leaving! He knows theres only him the three careers and one other tribute left."
He said still watching closely, as his brother throws all the weapons except for the trident his sponsors sent him into the lake closest to the cornucopia.

Avery watched as he sat down and started making a net with all the rope he had taken out of his backpack.

"He's laying a trap. It's smart, they will come looking for him when they wake up and he's gone." Avery commented stealing a pickle off the half made sandwich on the plate in Caspians hand before he swatted her hand away.

After only 9 days there was nothing but the career pack, finnick, and the boy from 3 left.
And as the careers woke up, as expected they noticed Finnicks absence.
As well as that any weapon not strapped to their bodies were missing as well.
So in their anger they started to hunt him down. It was on their way to the lake by the cornucopia that they stumbled upon the boy from three and gave chase.

They chased him all the way to the edge of the lake. Where they unexpectedly set off Finnicks trap. Successfully sending all four sprawling into the lake, trapped in the net Finnick had spent all night weaving.

Not even 10 minutes later the head game maker announced Finnick Odair the winner of the 65th annual hunger games, the youngest there's ever been.

This making Cas scream at the top of his lungs while jumping up off the sofa.

"MOM MOM MOM!"

Caspian and Avery were screaming in joy and jumping up and down holding each other when Lillian came rushing into the room seeing her boy being take out of the arena alive.

Happy tears falling from her eyes as she walk to the kitchen to call the number Mags had left for her. to see when her boy would be coming home.

"He gets to come home Cas!" Avery says as they stop jumping.

Caspian smirks,

"yeah home to you, to give you back your necklace right?... Maybe his heart while he's at it?" he adds making kissing noises in her face.

"Oh hush you! Its not like that." she says pushing his face away with his hand.

"Oh please, don't think I don't know how bad you really got it for my big brother."

he replies, laughing at the blush that immediately lights up her face.

It was a few days later that they watched Finnick get crowned victor, and do his last interview with Ceasar. The recapping of the games. They never watched the recaps usually, as it wasn't someone they knew. But this was Finnick. Caspian and Avery watched it all. Just excited to see him get off the train back in four.
