Nightmares And Seashells

chapter eight

When he woke up to the sun in his eyes. Finnick rubbed his face before sitting up on his elbows and seeing Avery still sleeping soundly under him.

He didn't have a single nightmare. The realization made him laugh, accidentally waking the girl up.
Opening her eyes and seeing him hovering slightly above her she looked down and blushed, before meeting his eyes again and lifting herself onto her own elbows forcing him into a full sitting position.

"How'd you sleep Finnick?" She asked seeing as how she hadn't woken up to him once.

"Great actually. Thank you for that, I think I really needed it." He admitted sheepishly.

"I'd say so, those dark circles you were getting really weren't doing you any favors Odair." She joked, smiling at him.

Smacking his hand over his heart with a mock gasp Finnck said,

"You're gonna pay for that Winters."

Lunging at the wide-eyed girl before she could make it off the bed he started tickling her relentlessly.

Gasping for air in between giggles she said

"Finnick- fin- stop- FIN!"

Just then his door opened making both of them freeze.

Caspian who had been mid sentence stopped in the doorway. Taking in the scene before him a borderline evil smile crept onto his face.

Sideways on his brothers bed lay Avery. Her face almost as red as her her wild curls that were everywhere. Her head dangling off the side of the bed as she was still trying to catch her breath. With Finnick still hovering over her. His own bed hair sticking up in every direction, and the smile never leaving his face.

"Good morning little brother. Can I help you?" He asked.

Caspian's face fell slightly really not wanting to ruin his brothers great mood.

But having no way around it he scratched the back of his head saying,
"Actually yeah, Fin. Your prep team is downstairs waiting for you."

Just as he knew it would, at his words Finnicks smile was gone.
Sitting up and clearing his throat finnick slid off the bed.

"Right, of course."
He said as he fixed his hair slightly.

Then started walking toward where Caspian was standing, opening the door wider and making room for him to slide passed him.

Finnick stopped by his brother and turned back to the pair. Putting of a fake capital smile ,

"The show never ends right?" He said shaking his head. Then going down the stairs as Caspians sad eyes followed him. 

Once he was out of sight. Cas spun on his best friend, who was just getting out of the bed herself.

"YOU!" He said pointing at her then the bed and back again.

"Have some explaining to do."

A few days had passed since Finnick had left again. On their way home Avery was rolling her sore shoulder, when Caspian pushed her nearly making the shorter girl topple over. With a squeek she righted herself before glaring at the boy.

"Just because it's your birthday Odair doesn't mean I won't hit you." She told the smiling boy.

"Oh please, you're just mad that my brother is gone so you won't be able to use my birthday sleep over as an excuse for some cuddle time." He said nudging her again as he dodged her fist.
