After spending a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how to work the damn thing. Avery came out of the bathroom dressed in some comfy clothes, thinking she'd just nap the ride away.

But as she took the towel off her head she saw Finnick sitting at the foot of her bed with his head in his hands.

"Fin?" she said tentatively.

When he looked up he his eyes were misty.
So she rushed up to him going down to her knees to hug him, putting her face in his neck. They just sat there holding each other for a long moment before he pulled away.

"I'm sorry Aves I feel like this is all my fault." He admitted.

"Oh Fin, you stop that before you even start.
You were already punished... this just happened. It could have been anyone." She said getting up to sit next to him.

After he sighed knowing there was no arguing with the stubborn girl. He spoke again,

"I have something for you." he said Reaching into his back pocket.

He pulled out a familiar old necklace only now it had an additional seashell attached next to the old one. This caused a smile to creep onto Averys face.

"Promise I'll tell you my wish, AFTER you win this thing." He told her as she took it from his hand.

"Okay, I'll hold you to that fishstick." she said still smiling down at the necklace.

"Will you put it on for me?"

"Of course." he replied.

Once her back was turned her smile fell.

"Do you think snow will ask you again when we get to the capital?"

Pausing he thought to himself, if he should lie.

Deciding against it he sighed

"He already has. He called after the reaping, as soon as I made it on the train. Quite creepy timing if I'm honest... I'll be meeting my first client after the parade."

Hearing that she spun around.

"Fin why?"

"I can't handle losing anyone else I care about..." He said trailing off and grabbing her hands.

"Which is why, you have to win this thing, AND why I'm going to try my hardest to make sure WHEN you get home. You won't be in the same position as me."

With that she hugged him again muttering a soft thank you into his neck making a shiver run down his spine.

After talking for a few hours about the games and training, Avery laid her head down next to Finnicks while he played with the ends of her red curls.

"Finnick I have a really personal question, well more of a request really." Avery said playing with her fingers

"Anything Aves. You know that." he said making her sit up on her elbows to look at him better.

"Well I'm about to be thrown into the games and you're about to be thrown to capital sharks, and well I haven't you know.. and I want the first time to be with someone I care about and who cares about me. And I want that for you too! Even if I win then you can't promise that snow will let me off just for you... and even then it'd be too late for you..  also if I win, there doesnt need to be any strings or anything. It's just well I just.. if I die in there, I just don't want to do it a Virgin.." she stumbled out tripping over her own words a few times.

Then immediately putting her burning face into her hands.

Finnick sat there stunned for a moment did this breathtaking girl just say that to him? His brothers best friend, the girl who's come to mean everything to him. HIS best friend.

"It was stupid to ask never mind.." she said after he'd been quiet too long.

"No!" He accidentally shouted while shooting up into a sitting position causing her to jump.

"I mean no, it's not stupid.. and my answer is yes." He corrected himself

"I will- well I'd like to, do that.. with you..Yes."

A/N

Yes that happened, and no I will not be writing that in detail. Mainly because they're both teenagers right now. But also because no matter the fantasy first times are cringe.  🤷‍♀️
