"I knew it was you at the cemetery. Have you not done enough?" You asked as you grabbed the glasses and turned around. You were still in your funeral dress. A tight black, law, looking dress.

"I knew you would see me. You were her best friend were you not?" He asked, taking a step toward you to grab the glass. You motioned over to the couch. He nodded and did an 'after you' motion. You crossed your legs when you sat down.

"Why are you here? Come to gloat?" You asked.

"Hm, I thought you were more perceptive than this." He said laying back on the couch. "This place is a little dreary if you ask me. It needs an Irish touch." He took a sip of the wine.

"Good thing no one asked you." You smiled as you finished your glass. You went to get up but he stood up first and grabbed your glass.

"I'll get it." He said. You heard him rummaging around the kitchen.

"So why are you here then, Ian." You said. You were relaxed for some reason. You didn't fear him as you thought you would.

"I wanted to see the life Lauren-Emily made for herself after she ruined mine." He said circling behind you and he handed you the glass.

"We both know that she didn't kill Declan." You said. He hummed.

"Oh, I know." He sat back down.

"Then why did you kill my best friend?" Your chest got tight.

"I didn't know at the time. I couldn't trust her words. She lied before. I loved her but I love Declan more." He said.

"I know that too. So what do you want from me?" You asked.

"I want you to find him." He said putting his elbows on his knees.

"And why would I do that? He's better off without you." You stayed laid back. Before you knew what was happening he lunged forward and had his hands around your neck.

"Because if you don't, I'll kill the rest of your team and I'll start with your Unit Chief's little brat of a son." He said. You smiled at that.

"No you wouldn't." He backed off. You tried to catch your breath. "You wouldn't hurt a little boy the same way someone hurt yours." He seemed surprised at that but didn't disagree. "I'll make a deal with you."

"I don't make deals."

"And I don't negotiate with terrorists but look where we are." His eyes were dark even with how blue they were.

"I'll find Declan... but if I can find him and show you that he has a better life than you could give him, you leave him alone, you know he's not safe with you. Emily wanted him to have the best chance. She loved him too." You said. You found yourself almost feeling sorry for him.

"And why would you do that?" He asked.

"Because Emily made me promise that I would never let any harm befall Declan and I told her I would do anything she asked. I loved her and she knew that no matter the consequences I would never let her down." You said strongly.

"Yes, and that's why she's dead. You could have spared her that but you let her die. Why?" he said.

"Because that's what she told me to do. If it came to that, Declan was both our priorities. He's an innocent child and even if she didn't tell me where he is she knew I would do anything to protect him." You finished.

"From me?" He said.

"Originally I would have said yes, and at the time it was probably true. But no. I see the way you're acting. You are a father who would do anything to protect your child. Emily knew that but she also knew you couldn't see the danger you were putting him in. She didn't do it for you. Everythings she's done she did for him." You finished.
