The next morning you give the profile. You were with Rossi, Hotch, Kate, and Reid. Rossi and Reid were spitting off facts to the group to help locate a profile. Reid handed out a profile.

"I will also be detailing a number of you as well so stay behind when the agents have finished and I will give you your assignment," Kate prompted. She gave each person some sort of job and everyone hit the streets. You were sitting at the desk going over the profile when the phone started to ring. You went to grab it when Hotch ran over and grabbed it first.

"Hotch" he answered. "Does it look like it could be one of our guys?"

"What's going on?" Morgan asked as he hung up the phone. Kate came over.

"We've got eyes on one of them. He's on the subway platform of 59th and Lex."

"59th?" You said at the same time as Morgan.

"We could have been right there." Morgan points out. Hotch and Kate both wouldn't make eye contact. You stood up between them. Penelope spoke up.

"He's got a gun...oh my god. He shot her." She rasped out.

"God damn it." You said.

"Where the hell are the police?" Kate said, walking away. She picked up a phone. "This is Kate Joyner, with the FBI. We have a murder suspect subway platform, 59th and Lex." She hung up.

"He's getting away." Garcia's voice rang out of the speaker.

"Garcia, can you guys see him above ground?" Rossi said. There was silence and she said they lost the visual.

"We could have had that guy." Morgan says angrily.

"Even if we were on that platform, odds are he would have moved onto somewhere more isolated." Kate sat down.

"Maybe. But it was worth a shot-"

"Let's not be too quick to decide what is or is not true." You said to Kate, with your hand up.

"What?" She asked.

"You said odds are he would have moved on but you also said that we can't decide what we do or don't have. We could have been there."

"We had every available man on the street." She said, trying to defend her word.

"And I suggested to you that you use this team." Morgan moved closer.

"Second-guessing doesn't do us any good right now." Hotch interjected, still looking down. Why was he defending her?

"Hotch, how am I supposed to look these cops in the eye and tell them that we are actually here to help them?" Morgan said.

"We are here to present a profile. That's what we need to do." He looked to Morgan and then straight back to the ground.

"I said to put us at express stops, 14th, 42nd, 59th, and that's exactly where they hit-"

"It's not your palace to have that discussion," Hotch spoke up.

"My place?-"

"You need to back off." Hotch stood up fully.

"We have 7 bodies." You said. "7"

"Which is exactly why we need to stay focused." Hotch's tone was angry and defensive,

"Focused?" Morgan scoffed. "From where I'm standing. All of your focus is on her." You could see Kate look away but your eyes stayed on her.

"Take a walk, now." Hotch said, face to face with Derek. Rossi looked on and you looked at Hotch before almost brushing shoulders with him as you followed Morgan. Kate walked off in the opposite direction.
