A few weeks went by and things were tough. It was unbearable to see Hotch everyday and not be with him. Everything was so fleeting. You told him you never wanted him to hurt you or leave you but you did that exact thing. Every case felt the same. This time you were sent to New York City. Close to home for you but for the first time in your life going home didn't come with the grief of your brother and dead parents. Or atleast dead-to-you parents. There had been a string of murders. Random at best. The kills were sporadic and the victimology was unclear. Some on subway tracks others in plain sight. New Yorkers were notorious for turning a blind eye to crime and violence.

Hotch was being weird. This case seemed personal for some reason. There was no robberies and it was a different killing in a different part of the city. Kate Joyner. They "liaised" or whatever that means. Very posh.

"I heard she's a pain in the ass." Morgan said.

"I don't think so." Hotch said before we got off of the jet. You made it to the precinct and overheard JJ and Penelope.

"Is it just me or does she look exactly like Haley?" None of us answered JJ. You were star struck.

"Kate." Hotch said. KATE. It sounded so...

"Aaron," She replied with a handshake. First name bases? Okay. "How have you been?"

"Well, thank you. This is my team." He looked over to us. "Kate Joyner, this is David Rossi, Emily Prentiss, Jennifer Jareau, Penelope Garcia, Derek Morgan, Spencer Reid, and Danielle Lindsey." Spencer gave a little wave.

"Thanks for being here. Anything that you need, just tell me. Please don't stand on protocol." She told us, but she was looking at Aaron. You looked toward Morgan and you could sense the animosity. Good, she seems like a bitch. She went over how the NYPD surveillance systems were still in the 'infant stages' and its been rough. You could admit that Brustin was an asshole by the way he was talking to her but you let it off.

"Can I speak to you for a moment?" She asked Hotch and he followed her willingly.

"They liaise at Scotland Yard." Emily said, not believing any of it.

"Oh?" JJ said.

"Yeah.." You said. Also not believing it. You saw them in the blinds and so was Morgan. He was smiling. You followed Spencer and Emily while he talked to Cooper. Apparently Kate called the BAU in without asking the NYPD and was talking to the governor. Great, so she was a power thirsty British woman. What was there to not like?

You decided to go with Morgan. Another killing happened at the subway and the witnesses had nothing to say. Different races were thrown around and no one could pinpoint a thing. The next victim was killed in the daylight while hailing a taxi.

"Is this what it felt like during the Son of Sam?" Kate asked.

"First we realized that if the violence was truly random, there was almost no way of stopping it. It seems like these people have figured it out." Brustin said.

"From the placement of that camera, the odds are the only view they're gonna get is the back of his head." Morgan deduced.

"Let's not be too quick to decide what we do or don't have." Kate said.

"It wasn't definitive Agent Joyner, it was a deduction. Profiling isn't all facts." You added. Her eyes shot daggers at both of you but you weren't going to let her be a bitch to Morgan who was simply doing his job. With that she walked away.

"You mind telling me why I'm catching attitude from her?" Morgan asked Hotch.

"FBI Brass has made it clear to her that if she doesn't bring this came home she's gonna be reassigned. And you are at the top of the list to replace her." Hotch said. Wow. Derek Morgan. The man you are.
