"Alright, Kat, let's go!" Toga yelled. We spent the whole night watching movies, and today Toga wants to go to the mall with me. Ever since yesterday she started calling me Kat. I like it; it's cute. "Where are you going?" Dabi's voice was heard through the room. Toga and I turned to look at him. "Good morning, Dabi." I greeted him, and Toga looked more annoyed. "Come on, Kat." she whined. "We want to go to the mall." I told him, and he looked at us suspiciously. "With what money?" he asked us. "Uh, good question, Himiko, with what money?" I asked her, and she looked away from me. "I thought about stealing." She mumbled. "But if we get caught?" I asked her with worry. I heard Dabi sigh from the other side of the room. "I'll come with you. So I have an eye on the two of you, and Twice will come with us." Dabi said as he pointed to the said male. Toga didn't look too happy about it but just went with it.
"Come on, Kat-chan! Let's go!" Toga said she wanted to pull me through the mall when Dabi grabbed her by the arm and stopped her. "I'll come with you." He stated. "No! I want some alone time with her!" Toga argued, and Dabi looked at her furious. "Come on, Katsumi, let's go to the clothes area! No, go away!" Twice said, and I again was kind of confused. What now? but since he started pulling me with him, I guess the first part. We reached the clothes area and went to the woman's clothes. "I practically need everything and maybe a good suit when we're on a mission or something." I told him, and he nodded. "Alright! Let's get everything. Let's get nothing!" He argued again with himself, but I again went with the first thing he said, and we started picking some stuff I would need.
The mall's corridors were alive with colors and sounds, bustling with the energy of shoppers all around us. Twice and I rummaged through the racks while Toga bounced from one cloth to another. It was an exhilarating feeling, a little like living a normal life, even though I knew it wouldn't last long.
"Here, Kat!" Toga called out, holding up a bright red dress. "This would be perfect for you!"
I grinned. "That's really pretty, but I need something practical for missions too."
"But you have to look good while you're doing it!" Toga winked and laughed. Her energy was contagious, and I couldn't help but join in her laughter.
"Alright, alright! Let's find something that looks good but is also functional." I continued to browse the racks and eventually found a couple of cool black pants and a comfortable yet stylish hoodie.
"Check this out!" Twice exclaimed, holding up a bright blue shirt that looked a bit ridiculous. "It screams 'I'm here to save the day!'"
I chuckled. "Maybe a little too much, don't you think?"
As we explored the clothing store, I could feel myself relaxing. I was getting lost in the moment, forgetting for just a while about the chaos that awaited us outside.
After gathering a few outfits, Twice and I made our way to the accessory section. "I need some gear too," I said, holding up a pair of gloves that looked both stylish and useful. Twice was busy trying on a goofy hat. "What do you think? Should I wear this on missions?" He turned to show me, grinning widely.
"Definitely not," I said, laughing. "Stick to something more low-key." Just then, I spotted Dabi and Toga in the food court, arguing over something. Dabi looked visibly annoyed while Toga seemed to be trying to convince him to get some crazy snacks. "Hey, what are you two doing over there?" I called out, heading toward them with Twice following close behind.
"We're discussing lunch!" Toga said cheerfully, her eyes sparkling. "Dabi wants to get something boring." "Can you blame me?" Dabi replied, crossing his arms. "We don't have time to waste on snacks." "Well, we need energy for our next heist!" Toga countered, her voice full of mischief.
After a brief debate, we decided to grab some quick snacks before heading back to the main mall area. The atmosphere was light, laughter filling the air as we munched on our food. I felt like I was part of something special, a bond forming between us.
Suddenly, as we were about to leave, I caught a glimpse of something unusual in the reflection of a store window. My heart raced as I noticed a couple of figures in the distance, dressed in dark clothing and scanning the area. "Uh, guys?" I said, my voice shaky. "I think we might be followed."
Dabi's expression turned serious as he glanced back at the figures. "Alright, we need to move. Stay close."
As we made our way through the mall, the tension in the air escalated. The thrill of being chased sent adrenaline coursing through my veins. Twice was chattering away, making jokes to lighten the mood, while Toga was giggling as she sprinted ahead, seemingly enjoying the chase.
"Dabi! This way!" Toga called, leading us toward an emergency exit. We burst through the door just as the figures behind us began to close in.
The outside air hit me like a wave, and I felt the rush of panic mixed with excitement. We sprinted down an alleyway, my heart pounding in my chest as I pushed myself to keep up with Dabi and Toga. The thrill of the chase was intoxicating, the adrenaline heightening my senses.
"Stay focused, Katsumi!" Dabi shouted back, urging me to keep pace. As we turned a corner, I could hear the footsteps of our pursuers getting louder behind us. My breathing quickened, but a strange exhilaration began to blossom within me. I was running, I was free, and for a moment, I felt alive.
"Left! This way!" Twice yelled, veering off into another alley. I followed without hesitation, adrenaline pumping through my veins, drowning out the fear. We managed to slip through a series of winding backstreets, finally losing sight of our pursuers. I stopped to catch my breath, leaning against a wall while I tried to calm the frantic beating of my heart.
"That was... intense!" I exclaimed, laughter escaping my lips. The thrill of the chase had been overwhelming, and I realized I was actually enjoying it. Dabi glanced at me with a small, approving smirk. "Welcome to our world, Katsumi. This is just the beginning." Toga clapped her hands excitedly. "I loved that! Let's do it again!"
I couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of belonging I hadn't felt in a long time. Maybe this was where I was meant to be after all.
