"Don't forget to breathe." I heard Dabi's voice next to me. "It's kind of hard; what would you do when you face your mother again after you faked your death and became a villain?" I asked him with my heart pounding. "We don't have to, you know?" Dabi said. "We have to; they took Ash after we were sent to prison for this last year." I reminded him, and he nodded. "Fine, just remember I'm here with you." He told me, and I nodded as I took in a last breath before I rang at the Bakugo house.
The wait felt like an eternity. My mind raced with everything that could go wrong, but before I could dwell on it, the door opened. Katsuki was there, already looking tense, as if he had been waiting for this moment. "Come in; we weren't allowed to visit you, but before anything happens, mother really missed you." Katsuki said.
I nodded, stepping inside the house. It felt strange—familiar yet foreign at the same time. The memories of what this place used to mean to me clashed with everything I had become. Dabi stayed close, and I could feel his silent support, which kept me grounded.
As we walked in, I noticed Katsuki's eyes narrowing, fixated on Dabi. His expression screamed annoyance, like he was trying to figure out why Dabi was even here.
"Stop staring," I muttered under my breath, giving Katsuki a side glance. "I'm not staring," he shot back, his voice low but sharp. "I just don't trust him." Dabi smirked but said nothing, his usual cool demeanor not even fazed by Katsuki's glare. He knew how to push buttons, but this wasn't the time for that. We made our way toward the living room, and I could feel the tension thick in the air.
As we entered the living room, the atmosphere shifted. My heart raced, and I felt like I was stepping into a minefield. The room was decorated with family photos—some of happier times, some that felt like ghosts of the past.
Then I saw her. My mother stood by the window, her gaze lost in thought. When she finally turned to look at us, her eyes widened in disbelief, then softened with a mix of relief and sadness.
"Katsumi..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "Hello, mother." I greeted her and she looked like she was about to cry. She then took quick steps over to me and hugged me tightly.
"Oh, my baby," she murmured into my shoulder. I felt her warmth and the familiar scent of her hair, but it was mixed with years of pain and regret. It felt comforting yet heavy.
After a moment, she pulled back, her hands still resting on my shoulders. "I thought I lost you for good. I've prayed every day that you would come back to me. I'm so sorry for everything."
I swallowed hard, emotions swirling inside me. "You don't get to say that and expect it to fix everything, Mom."
"I know, and I can't express how deeply I regret it," she said, her voice breaking. "Maybe I'm one day able to forgive you properly." I said, and she looked at me with hope. Just then Ash walked up to me, and I looked at him with big eyes as he just meowed at me. "Ash! You're fat! What did you eat that you turned this fat!?" I yelled as I looked at the snall animal, who just looked at me with big eyes before he jumped into my arms. "I couldn't help it; he is just too cute." My mother said, and I grinned as I looked at the cat. "Yeah, he is." I said, and just then I felt Dabi's presence behind me, and he laid his head on my head. "He's inspired by me; of course he's cute." He said, and my mother then looked at him with a sharp expression.
I turned around to face Dabi, feeling the weight of my mother's gaze on him. "You..." my mother started, her voice steady but firm. She stepped forward, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked at Dabi. "You better treat my daughter right. If I find out that you've hurt her or disrespected her in any way, I won't hesitate to make you regret it."
Dabi raised an eyebrow, the usual smirk fading from his face. "And what are you going to do? You think you can scare me?"
"Don't underestimate a mother's love," she replied, her tone sharp. "I may not have been there for her when she needed me, but I've made my mistakes, and I won't let anyone else hurt her. If you're truly serious about being in her life, you need to step up. Otherwise, you will deal with me."
I felt a mixture of embarrassment and pride as I watched my mother confront Dabi. "Mom, you don't need to—"
"Yes, I do," she interrupted, her gaze unwavering. "I might have failed you before, but I won't stand by and let someone else hurt you." She said and glared at Dabi. Dabi took a step back, taken aback by her intensity. "I get it, alright? I won't hurt her. I care about her."
"Good," my mother replied, her expression softening just a bit. "Because if I hear one word about you mistreating her, I will find a way to make your life miserable, and trust me, I know people." She said. "Alright, I think we have to go now." I said as I slowly pushed Dabi out of the house. "It was nice talking again." I said and Dabi and I then left the house.
-hours later-
Now, the whole league is living together in an apartment. Some of us can't get used to this life, and I often have to stop Toga and Twice from stealing or doing other shit.
"I can't believe we're finally back together," Twice said, his voice bubbling with excitement as he placed a stack of pizza boxes on the table. "It's been way too long since we had a pizza party!" I yelled in excitement. "Yeah! Now give the pizza!" Toga yelled and took a box.
Dabi and I were sitting on one couch, since Dabi threatened anyone who wanted to sit on the couch to set them on fire. I was leaning against him and watched the others. Toga was trying to put a big pizza piece into Twices mouth while Shigaraki just watched them annoyed. "It's gross; stop messing around; you're all to loud." He said as he scratched his head. Spinner and Compress sat on another couch, and Compress was just building a card house, while Spinner every now and then tried to destroy it.
"Are you finally happy?" I heard Dabi's voice, and I looked up to meet his gaze. "Yeah. I'm actually finally happy." I told him and grinned at him happily. Just as he was about to kiss me, Toga suddenly jumped on my lap. "Save me, Katsu!" She yelled, and Dabi looked at her like he was about to kill her. "I swear to God, if you don't go, I'll turn you into ash." She quickly jumped out of my arms to save herself from Dabi. While I laughed happily, not that everything turned out just fine.
