The next day arrived lazily, sunlight streaming through the blinds and casting stripes across the living room floor where Wooyoung and San had spent countless hours studying. Wooyoung stirred first, blinking sleep from his eyes and stretching like a cat in a sunbeam. He turned to see San still fast asleep on the couch, hair tousled and mouth slightly agape.
A mischievous grin spread across Wooyoung's face as he tiptoed to the kitchen, trying to suppress a giggle. He rummaged through the cabinets, searching for the ingredients for a little surprise. After some careful contemplation, he settled on pancakes—simple, yet delicious.
As the scent of batter filled the air, San finally stirred awake, his nose twitching at the enticing aroma. "What's that smell?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes and squinting at the sunlight streaming through the window.
"Breakfast!" he announced, turning to flash a proud smile.
San smirked, stretching his arms above his head. "You cooking sounds dangerously appealing. Is there a chance you might burn the kitchen down?"
"Rude!" Wooyoung shot back playfully. "Just wait until you taste them."
After a few moments of flipping and fluffing, Wooyoung presented San with a stack of golden pancakes drizzled with chocolate syrup, a shit ton of whipped cream, and a scattering of fresh blueberries. "Ta-da! There you do."
San's eyes lit up, the sight before him a masterpiece. "Wow, you actually didn't burn anything," he teased, taking a forkful and savoring the sweet taste. "These are really good."
"I know. I have hidden culinary talents," Wooyoung said, beaming with pride.
They finished their breakfast in easy conversation, laughter punctuating the air as they exchanged playful jabs. Once they cleared the plates, Wooyoung suggested a movie marathon to unwind from their study sessions.
They settled on the couch, wrapping themselves in a cozy blanket and scrolling through the streaming service for something to watch. After debating for a while, they finally agreed on a lighthearted rom-com that made them both chuckle.
As the movie played, San found himself stealing glances at Wooyoung, who was fully engaged with the film, his laughter contagious. Each time Wooyoung laughed, San felt a warmth in his chest, a comfort that had grown between them over the past few weeks.
Halfway through the movie, Wooyoung turned to San, a curious expression on his face. "What do you think about love? Like, in movies?"
"Love in movies is often exaggerated," San replied, leaning back and crossing his arms. "But there's something nice about the idea of it. Like, even if it's not real, it makes you feel something."
Wooyoung nodded, absorbing San's words. "I guess. I think it's nice to believe in something like that, you know?"
San glanced at him, intrigued. "What about you? Do you believe in love?"
Wooyoung hesitated, a flicker of vulnerability passing over his face. "I don't know...I mean, it seems really nice, but it's hard to find in real life, right?"
San leaned in, resting his chin on his hand as he studied Wooyoung's face. "It can be hard, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Sometimes it's just right in front of you, waiting for you to notice."
Wooyoung felt his heart race, the sincerity in San's voice catching him off guard. "Mm, maybe you're right," he said softly, feeling the weight of the moment.
Just then, the movie hit a particularly romantic scene, and they both fell silent, absorbed in the on-screen chemistry. It was as if the universe was pushing them closer together, the tension in the air thickening.
