As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the park, San and Yunho wandered along the winding path, their breaths visible in the crisp autumn air. The vibrant leaves rustled above them, creating a soft melody that danced in harmony with their footsteps. San, however, was focused on something more intriguing than the beauty of nature: a cat.
"Have you seen the cat that Wooyoung caught?" San asked, his eyes scanning the surroundings, hoping for a glimpse of the small creature.
"Ugh, why would I care about a cat?" Yunho replied, wrinkling his nose in distaste. "They're always getting in the way and causing trouble."
San shot him a glare, a mix of disbelief and exasperation. "You're impossible, you know that? Cats are adorable! Besides, they're much better company than people."
Just as he finished speaking, a small black cat darted out from behind a tree, its glossy fur shimmering in the fading light. San's heart raced as he spotted it, the creature pausing to look up at him with bright, curious eyes.
"There it is!" he exclaimed, excitement bubbling within him. Kneeling down, he extended a hand, coaxing the cat closer. "Hey there, little guy. Where's that Wooyoung you saw yesterday?"
The cat, sensing his kindness, padded over and nuzzled against his palm. San couldn't help but smile, feeling the warmth of the small creature as he gently scooped it into his arms. Pressing it against his cheek, he marveled at how soft its fur felt against his skin.
Yunho rolled his eyes dramatically. "You really want to snuggle with that thing?"
Ignoring the teasing, San lifted the cat higher, feeling a rush of affection. "What's wrong with that?" he shot back, grinning as he relished the moment.
"Nothing, except that it might scratch your face off," Yunho replied with a laugh.
San narrowed his eyes, playfully defensive. "You're just jealous because you'll never have a cuter friend except me!"
Suddenly, he felt the cat squirm in his arms, and with a quick motion, he set it beside him on the ground. The cat looked up at him, its expressive eyes glinting with mischief. San couldn't help but feel a surge of affection wash over him again.
"Do you think it has a name?" he pondered aloud, glancing down at the cat, which seemed to tilt its head in response.
Yunho shrugged, clearly uninterested. "What do I care? Just don't expect me to remember it."
San huffed, a playful glare directed at Yunho. "You really don't like cats, do you?"
"Nope. I prefer things that don't shed everywhere," Yunho replied, folding his arms as he watched San interact with the cat.
"Says the one that likes dogs!" San snarked back.
"Shut the fuck up, dogs are so much bett-" Yunho attempted to shoot back, but paused mid-way. "Holy fuck."
"What?" San raised an eyebrow.
"You guys look the same." Yunho amusedly pointed at the cat and San. "I see no difference." he smiled.
"Does this mean you like cats now?" San got his hopes up.
"Nope." Yunho teased back, but San knew he was serious.
"Some people just don't appreciate the finer things in life," San quipped, reaching down to scratch the cat behind its ears.
As the cat purred in response, San found himself smiling uncontrollably. He felt a warmth spread through him, knowing that this little creature was going to be something special, even if he hadn't decided on a name just yet.
"Just you wait," San said softly to the cat, a grin creeping onto his face. "I'll think of something perfect for you."
With a flick of its tail, the cat seemed to acknowledge his promise, and San couldn't help but feel a connection forming between them.
"Let's just hope it doesn't claw my eyes out when you do," Yunho interjected, breaking the moment with a smirk.
San rolled his eyes, unfazed. "You're just jealous," he teased back, knowing full well that even Yunho could appreciate the joy this little cat brought him.
With laughter in the air and the warmth of autumn wrapping around them, San and Yunho stood together, ready to embrace the evening as the park transformed into a tapestry of colors and shadows.
