Bert fought for a guarantee

According to Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr didn't care about anything but his work and what came out of it.

So when the studio offered him a five-week guarantee, but Bert insisted they give him a six-week guarantee

He actually fought with them about it.

Eventually, Bert got a six-week guarantee.

The words Ray used about it were, "they settled for six, and the picture ran for seven months!"

So I guess it was a two-fer loss.
