The lion costume was real 


I'm sure that when y'all were kids, you probably thought "that lion costume looks so real". 

That's because it was real. 

Yeah, you heard me. That lion costume was real lion skin and fur. 

On top of that, it weighed a hundred pounds! I'm not even kidding. A hundred pounds! 

Bert Lahr had to do a lot of dancing in this film. 

Can you imagine dancing in a hundred pounds of lion skin? 

Sounds both heavy and hot at the same time! 

And I do mean hot. They needed a couple of guys to air the costume out because by the end of the day, Bert was soaked. 

He sweated so much, the costume could have fused to his skin. I'm not sure it did, but it could have.
