  Clarissa POV

I could see why Dominic struggled to accept his wife's death; without a body, it left room for all sorts of rumors and theories to swirl around.

The absence of closure can be a breeding ground for obsession, and it seemed that Dominic had fallen victim to that very trap.

"Come in, I'll prepare a bath for you," Lily offered as she parked in what I assumed was her apartment's garage. Her voice was soothing, a stark contrast to the chaos in my mind.

As we stepped out of the car, my mind was a whirlwind, grappling with thoughts that felt jumbled and confusing. The events of the day replayed in my head like a broken record Dominic's frantic eyes, the gunshot that rang out, the feeling of being yanked away from the life I once knew, I was about to be married, and that was snatched away from me, by a man who thought i was his wife.

Entering her apartment, I noticed Lily turning to face me. The warm, inviting space was filled with soft light and the scent of lavender.

"You mentioned you were fleeing from someone. Who is it?" she inquired, her eyes widening with concern as I lowered my gaze. I could feel the weight of her scrutiny, the urgency in her voice pulling me back to the present.

"His name is Dominic. I don't know much, but he believes I'm his deceased wife. He won't let me go; he kidnapped me from my wedding and shot at my husband. I'm terrified," I confessed, finally breaking down as the weight of the last few hours overwhelmed me, and I began to cry.

Looking up, I saw Lily standing there, her eyes wide with shock as the reality of my situation hit her. It was as if the air had been sucked out of the room, leaving us both suspended in disbelief.

"What did you just say?" she exclaimed, staring at me in disbelief. Her reaction only deepened my sense of dread, as if I had just uttered a spell that could summon the very nightmare I was trying to escape.

"Dominic thinks you're Eve," she said, and I nodded in response, the gravity of my words hanging heavily between us.

Lily looked like she had seen a ghost, judging by her expression i knew she must know who Dominic is, after all Eve was her best friend.

"This is bad, like very bad, if Dominic thinks your eve, then, your in danger, he isn't going to rest now you have gotten away, "she said, her eyes widening in concern. My heart began to race as her words sank in.

"Well, I'm not his wife, so he needs to accept that and move on," I retorted, immediately regretting my tone when I noticed Lily's shocked expression.

"I'm sorry for raising my voice; you're just trying to help, and I..." I started, but she gently placed her hand on my shoulder, interrupting me.

"It's okay, I understand," she reassured me, and I managed a smile, though guilt still lingered over my reaction.

"Let's get you cleaned up," she suggested, leading me into the bathroom. As I began to undress, pulling the maid's uniform over my head, I turned to drop my clothes just as my bare back was exposed.

That's when I heard a gasp. I turned to see Lily staring at me in shock, her eyes wide and trembling as if she had seen a ghost. It frightened me, and I quickly glanced around to understand what had caused her panic.

"Lily, is everything okay?" I asked, and she managed a smile, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Um...yes...just the bath... I'll be right back," she stammered before rushing out of the bathroom, leaving me in a state of confusion.

. I found myself wondering if she might be bipolar or dealing with something serious, but I couldn't shake the feeling that her behavior was unsettling.

As I settled into the bath, I felt a sense of calm wash over me, but I knew that once I was finished, I had to find a way to contact Ivan. He was my only hope for escaping this situation.

When I finally emerged from the bath, I noticed Lily in tears. However, as soon as she spotted me, she quickly wiped her eyes and forced a smile.

"Hey," I greeted her, and she approached me with a short top and a cropped shirt.

"Hi, I'm really sorry about earlier. I just got overwhelmed by some thoughts," she replied, letting out a small, awkward laugh that felt out of place given the mood.

I didn't fully believe her words, but I smiled to show my understanding. I sensed that whatever was troubling her was connected to me, and even if I asked, she might never reveal the truth. She was hiding something.

"It's okay," I reassured her as I took the clothes from her and began to dress.
