I felt indifferent; she had brought this disrespect upon herself, and I had no intention of intervening. As she slowly rose to her feet, I observed her stepping away from me. An unsettling chuckle escaped her lips as she turned to face me.
"You believe you can intimidate me, don't you?" she challenged, moving closer until she stood right in front of me. I met her gaze, refusing to back down, determined not to give her the satisfaction she craved.
"Didn't I?" I replied, a smirk playing on my lips, and I could see the fury ignite in her eyes at my words.
"I should have ensured the job was done right. Just when I thought you were out of my life, here you are again, trying to take what belongs to me," she hissed, and I couldn't help but scoff. Did she really not understand my point?
Her cryptic remark about finishing the job puzzled me, but one thing was clear: I didn't want to be here, and I was desperate for an escape.
"It seems you didn't grasp what I just said, so let me clarify: I don't want to be here, so move aside and let me go," I commanded. She stepped closer until our bodies were nearly touching, searching my eyes as I held her stare.
"I know you're hiding something, and I will uncover it. You are Eve, and I know you better than anyone. You can't fool me, no matter what," she threatened, and I simply scoffed.
I don't fear someone like you. You think you can intimidate me, but you can't. I'd rather face anything than allow you to control me. I don't know what issues you have with your sister, but don't take them out on me. I shot those words back at her, and I could see the surprise in her eyes.
It was clear she didn't expect me to respond like that, but I wasn't concerned about her reaction. I pushed past her, leaving her to ponder my words. Perhaps she was so accustomed to dominating her sister that she thought she could do the same with me, but I refused to let that happen.
"Wait!" she called as I turned to look at her.
"What do you want? Another insult?" I replied, my face contorted with anger. She approached me, a wicked smirk playing on her lips.
"No, I can help you get away, but you have to promise not to return," she said.
