"What does that even mean?" I asked, confusion clouding my mind.

"He doesn't know you're Eve. I convinced him you aren't. Maybe he'll let you go, or you could start anew with him. But please, don't go back to Ivan; he's not who you think he is," Lily urged, and I couldn't help but scoff.

"Why should I trust anything you say? Just because you claim to have been Eve's best friend doesn't make you reliable," I retorted, and she turned her gaze away.

"I'm trying to offer you the chance to choose your own path. You've never had that option before, but now you do. Ivan wasn't your decision, believe me. I want you to make your own choice," she replied, and I turned to the window, walking away from her.

She was right,so painfully right. Ivan had never been my choice; he had entered my life and made me feel like I belonged to him. Then, just a year later, , he proposed. My parents had insisted he was the perfect match, leaving me with no option but to say yes. I went along with it, but now I realized I couldn't trust him.

I was determined to find out what he was really up to and whether he had ever been genuine with me. There was a part of me that craved to unravel all these secrets.

"How can I trust you when you tell me I'm a woman I don't even recognize and insist to Dominic that I'm not his wife?" I shot back, and she met my gaze.

Deep down, I sensed something was off. At that moment, she pulled out a necklace and approached me.

"I... just want to give you this. It was in the car that crashed on the day of the accident," she said, extending it toward me.

It was a broken diamond. As I held it in my hand, memories washed over me like waves, and suddenly, I found myself collapsing to the floor, gasping for air as Lily rushed to my side.

"What is the meaning of these, I don't understand?",I asked her as she looked at me with pity, while I was gasping for breath.

It was a memory of Dominic giving the necklace to me, on a wedding day, and I knew because I remember for whatever reason I had always worn it and never taken it off.
