I stood there, completely stunned, gazing at a woman I had never encountered before in my life.
"Wait, what?" I asked Dominic, who was glaring at Harper with a fierce intensity.
"I used to call her my sister, but after what she did to me, she's no sister of mine. I will never see her as family again," Harper shouted, turning on her heel and storming out of the office.
I was left standing there, more bewildered than ever. I felt paralyzed as I watched her walk away, unsure of how to respond or what to think. I didn't understand what was happening.
I glanced at Dominic, who was still fixated on the door through which she had just exited, and it was clear they shared a complicated past.
Harper herself had acknowledged it, and the depth of her hatred for me was palpable, sending chills down my spine.
Whatever had transpired between this woman named Eve and her was clearly something dark and troubling.
I was exhausted from trying to convince this man that I wasn't his long-lost wife.
Deep down, I knew he wouldn't believe me, no matter what I said or did, and I didn't want to keep pushing the issue.
Just as I was about to open the door, a man with golden hair burst into the office. I recognized him from yesterday, and he looked frantic as he entered. "Don, he's here and he wants to see you," he said, sounding alarmed.
The mention of Clarissa had Dominic leaping up and rushing out of the office. I stood there, glancing down at my nightwear, puzzled about how my wedding dress had come off.
The thought of this man, who believed himself to be my husband, undressing me was unsettling. Without a word, I stormed back to the room where I had just woken up.
I needed to find something suitable to wear. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that fit perfectly, and I quickly changed into them.
As I stepped out the door, I could hear shouting from outside, which made me realize something was definitely happening.
As I made my way down the stairs and stepped outside, I spotted Ivan by the fountain, surrounded by a group of men.
Directly across from him stood Dominic, flanked by his own crew. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and I sensed that things were about to escalate. I was thrilled to see Ivan, but I realized that reaching him would be a challenge with Dominic blocking my path.
"Where is she?" Ivan shouted, his eyes locked onto Dominic with intensity.
"You mean my wife, the one you stole from me, you sick pervert!" Dominic shot back, and I noticed Ivan's expression darken.
"That's not your wife, and Clarissa never was. To prevent further conflict, I suggest you hand her over," Ivan retorted sharply, while Dominic wore a twisted grin.
"Ivan! You made it!" I called out, trying to rush toward him, but Dominic's men restrained me. When Ivan's gaze met mine, his eyes widened in surprise.
However, that surprise quickly turned to disappointment as he saw me being held back. I looked at him, yearning to run into his embrace, but he felt so close yet so far away.
"She's not going anywhere!" Dominic bellowed, signaling to his men to pull me back.
. "You monster, let her go!" Dominic shouted, drawing his gun as his men followed suit. But instead of fear, he chuckled, seemingly entertained by whatever Clarissa had done.
"Does she know?" he asked Ivan, whose eyes widened in shock. Suddenly, he frowned and kept his gun trained on Dominic, who stood there unflinching, unfazed by the threat. I couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity.
Ivan appeared terrified of Dominic for reasons I couldn't quite grasp. At the wedding, he had frozen when Dominic showed up, and now he looked like a deer caught in headlights, guilt etched across his face.
"Don't you dare," he warned Dominic, whose smile only grew wider with each passing moment.
"Know what?" I asked, eager to understand the tension in the air.
"That he killed your father while you watched, and he did terrible things to you. And now you're going to choose him over me,me" Dominic said, leaving me utterly confused.
My father was alive, and I couldn't fathom why Ivan felt guilty. In that moment, I did what any rational person would do.
I burst into laughter, but the men restrained me, preventing me from running to Ivan. Yet, that didn't stop me.
Was Dominic so desperate that he would say anything to keep me? It repulsed me, yet I couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity.
