It took me some time to finally push him away, as I was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty. I had always been told that the fear of the unknown is the most daunting, and that's exactly what I was experiencing, i was terrified of what I might uncover, what truths might come to light.
As I stepped back, his gaze filled with desire made me feel a deep sense of shame for the first time.
"You...you..." I stuttered, my eyes widening in shock at the situation unfolding before me.
"I will wait... Eve, even if it takes years to have you by my side," he murmured before turning to leave. I stood there, struggling to catch my breath, my heart racing as confusion and fear clouded my mind.
I realized I had to escape; I needed to get away from this place to avoid being trapped by Dominic . I understood all too well that he wouldn't let me go easily, regardless of what I did or how hard I tried.
1. I quietly slipped out of the room, and as I wandered through the halls, his words replayed in my mind, reminding me that he would never truly let me go. Yet, a sense of worry lingered within me due to what I had witnessed and felt.
There was an uncanny resemblance between me and his late wife, and I found myself grappling with emotions I couldn't quite articulate. I felt a wave of relief knowing Ivan was alive, and all I needed was to reach him. Lost in my thoughts, I accidentally collided with someone and looked up to find Harper.
I was taken aback to see her in this mansion, and unease washed over me as I noticed the disgust etched on her face.
"Watch where you're going, you pig," she spat, her eyes filled with animosity. It was shocking to witness such raw hatred directed at me.
"Listen, I'm not here to cause trouble. I know you don't want me around, and honestly, I don't want to be here either. So can we just skip the hostility and let me pass?" I retorted, feeling a surge of defiance as she responded with a sinister grin.
"You don't get to dictate my actions, little sister," she shot back, and I struggled to hold my tongue. I wasn't her sister, but something about her demeanor suggested that she had a huge problem with her sister
It seemed she harbored such intense resentment towards her sister that she wished her harm, mistaking me for her. That realization shed light on her chilling attitude towards me.
"What? Aren't you going to deny it, you liar?" she asked, stepping closer, trying to intimidate me. But I stood firm; I had no idea what her issue was, and I refused to let her bully me.
"You must be really bitter to confront me like this, especially since I'm not even your sister," I shot back. In an instant, she slammed me against the wall, her hands gripping my neck. I gasped, startled by the fury I saw in her eyes.
"Don't you dare tell me what to do! You might fool everyone else, but you won't fool me," Harper retorted. In that moment, I summoned all my strength and pushed her away.
She stumbled to the ground from the force of my shove. Standing over her, I was determined not to let someone like her walk all over me. I had no clue what her problem was, but I certainly wouldn't tolerate her disrespect.
"Listen, I don't care who you think you are or what you believe. I am not your sister, and if you ever lay a hand on me again, you'll regret it. Watch your tone when you speak to me. Why would I lie when I have no idea what's going on?" I yelled, letting all my anger and frustration pour out. I could see her eyes widen in shock, as if she couldn't believe I was standing up to her like this.
