The room was quiet, filled with the familiar scent of him—his cologne, inhaling his lingering scent that still clung to the room.

It's faint, almost gone, but it reminded you of the warmth and safety you once felt in his arms.

It's been more than a month since he was lost in battle, and you've been trying to keep yourself together, to move on just as everyone, but the weight of his absence hangs over you like a cloud.

You were in Gojo's bedroom, but you weren't the only one. You looked down to your huge belly sticking out of your dress, you smiled to your belly.

You looked around the place that once felt so full of life, now eerily silent.

Standing by his desk, your fingers gently traced the edges of his things, you tried to keep your composure.

You've been here countless times before, but now everything feels different.

Suddenly, a voice calls out from the hallway, snapping you out of you thoughts

"Hey, are you coming?"

"Yeah, I'm coming!"

As you turn to leave, your hand accidentally knocked a book off Gojo's desk.

"Crap."

You held your belly and bent down to pick it up, but something slipped out from between the pages and fluttered to the floor—an envelope, it was worn out.

Your curiosity got to you and you opened it.

'I'm sorry for not telling you this was going to happen from the start, for keeping you in the dark. I wanted to protect you from the pain, even if just for a little while longer. I wanted to spend as much time with you as I could before everything turned out this way.

I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise.

I was serious about leaving with you and getting a house—the one we always talked about, where the world was quiet, and it was just us.

I pictured us there every night.

In another life, I wouldn't have minded getting screamed at for not doing the dishes or for leaving my socks around. I would've loved that life with you, the one we could never fully reach.

But here we are, and I have to ask you something.
One last thing.

I need you to let me go.

My love won't end when I will. It's still there, with you. In the spaces between the stars, in the quiet moments when you feel alone, you'll always have it. My love will always be yours, even if I'm not.

In another life, maybe things would have been different. But in this life, I'm grateful. Grateful that we met, grateful that we loved, grateful for every moment we spent together.

It's okay I'm not scared. I'm happy I was able to love you til my last moments. I'm willing to die with you in my mind. Until then, I'll be waiting for you..

I love you, Y/N. I always will.

I promise. :)'

"What...?" You picked up the envelope from the desk, but something fluttered out of it. Confused, you picked it up, turning it over in your hands.

Your eyes widened and got watery as you notice the words written on the inside of the paper ring.

In Gojo's familiar, playful handwriting, the words "Marry me" are scrawled inside the ring.

For a moment, you were frozen in place, the world around you fading as memories flood back.

You remembered the day—where he told you he wanted to get married.

The memory was so vivid, so real, that it feels like he's right there with you. But then, the crushing reality hits you again, and the weight of his loss presses down on your chest.

You clutched the paper ring and letter to your heart, your vision blurring as tears well up in your eyes.

"Why did you have to leave me, Satoru...? I would've said yes... I would've..." Whispering through the sobs that you can no longer hold back.

You sank to the floor, your body shaking as the grief you've been holding back for so long finally broke free. The paper ring is still in your hand, the last tangible piece of the future you'll never have.

You cried for all the moments you've lost, for the teasing and the laughter, for the life you could've have shared. The sobs wracked your body as you press the ring to your lips, wishing for just one more moment with him.

The room echoed with your grief, the silence that follows more deafening than any noise.

You stayed there for what felt like hours, holding onto the ring, the memories, and the love that was taken from you too soon.

You were so lost in you pain that you didn't notice the soft sound of footsteps behind you, or the gentle touch on your shoulder.

You got startled and turned around quickly, expecting to see someone—but it's just a cat.

A beautiful cat with familar white fur and striking blue eyes, the same shade as Gojo's.

The same cat you had ran into together months ago with Gojo. You stared at it, your tears slowly subsiding as a strange sense of calm washed over you.

"Satoru...?" You whispered with your voice trembling.

The cat stared back at you, unblinking, and in that moment, you felt his presence all around you.

It's as if he was there, watching over you, comforting you.

The cat rubbed against your leg, and you reached down to stroke its fur, feeling a bittersweet mix of pain and peace.

The cat meowed at you gently.

You took a deep breath and wiped away the remaining tears and looked around the room one last time. You held the ring in your hand.

You walked to the door, pausing at the threshold. You turned back, your gaze lingering on the room that holds so many memories—of love, of laughter, of Gojo.

You placed a hand on your belly, feeling the small life growing inside you.

A weak, soft smile spread across your face as you rub your belly, the pain in your heart easing just a little.

You looked down at the paper ring in your palm.

"I love you."

You turned to leave the room, feeling lighter somehow, as if the burden of your grief has lifted just enough for you to breathe. But that wasn't enough, you hesitated. Your hand lingering on the doorknob.

But you had to.

You whispered something under your breath, barely audible, as if saying it out loud would make the loss too real.

A single tear slipped down your cheek.

The click of the latch felt like the final nail in the coffin of your love, sealing away the unforgettable life you once shared with each other.

The cat remained behind, a silent guardian of your memories with him.

The future was uncertain to you, but for the first time in a long while, you felt okay, like everything was going to be okay.

Like he promised.
