Shivani Pov:
As I woke up in Sharath's arms, the warmth of his embrace and the steady rise and fall of his chest against mine filled me with a peace I never knew I could feel. This was exactly where I wanted to be, wrapped in his arms, feeling safe, loved, and cherished. I couldn't help but smile as I lay there, watching him sleep, his face so peaceful, the slight rise of his lips in the corner, like he was dreaming something sweet.
My fingers gently traced the outline of his jaw, the soft stubble that had grown overnight brushing against my fingertips. I wanted this feeling forever. Waking up to him beside me, being the first thing I saw every morning, and the last before drifting off to sleep. The life that had once seemed like a foreign concept to me now felt like home. He was my home.
After a while, I carefully slipped out of bed, not wanting to disturb him. I pressed a light kiss on his forehead before heading to freshen up. As I washed my face, the blissful fog of the morning started to clear, and I remembered the missed calls from my parents last night. With a heavy sigh, I picked up my phone and saw their names flash across the screen. My heart sank a little.
I didn't want to involve Sharath in this drama, especially not right now. I knew my parents searched him on Google and would say things about him, things they didn't understand. They'd talk about status, wealth, and how he was "out of my league," and I didn't want him to hear any of that. I couldn't let him think that his love wasn't enough or that he didn't deserve me. He'd already done so much for me, and made me feel so valued and protected, and I needed to protect him now, even if it was just from my parents' harsh words.
I would handle it on my own, talk to them calmly, and make them see what I saw in him. And when the time was right, I'd introduce him properly, with my parents ready to give him the chance he deserved.
With those thoughts swirling in my head, I went to the kitchen to make breakfast. As I was flipping the omelet, I felt a familiar warmth behind me. A smile tugged at my lips even before I felt his hands sneak around my waist.
Sharath.
He buried his face in the crook of my neck, his eyes still closed, pressing lazy kisses against my skin. I couldn't help but giggle softly, feeling the warmth of him melt into me. "Morning," I whispered, continuing to cook while he hung on to me, his touch grounding me.
"Morning," he murmured, his voice thick with sleep. He didn't move away, just held me tighter, as if he wanted to stay in this peaceful moment for as long as he could.
"Go freshen up, sleepyhead," I said, teasing him gently, as I flipped the last pancake. "Breakfast will be ready soon."
He sighed dramatically but obeyed, planting a kiss on my neck before letting me go and heading to the bathroom. As I set the table, I couldn't help but smile, feeling a strange sense of contentment in this domestic bliss. When he came back, looking fresh and wide awake, we sat down to eat.
"I think I'll just stay home today," I said casually, cutting into my pancake.
Sharath looked up, raising an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Yeah, I just feel like being lazy today. I'm tired from all the traveling, and I could use a break," I admitted.
He nodded, setting his fork down. "Then I'll stay home with you."
I shook my head, chuckling. "No, you won't. You're a CEO, Sharath. You can't just skip work because I feel lazy. Go handle your empire, and I'll be here when you get back."
