Chapter 12: Turns out for the better

Stunned, I stood there, not knowing what was going on anymore I stole the glance towards the Duchess. She didn't even look at me, even though she was standing just behind my shoulder. But this sudden announcement causes all the Nobles to start whispering with each other.

"Ahh.....".Now I realized, If it was our world, this would have been a moment worth remembering. People around you would have been happy about it. But this is not the world I came from. I know what they are whispering about.

"So they are not gonna have their Own engagement party."
"I knew that the youngest wasn't welcomed in the family but isn't that too harsh"
"Well I knew this was coming."
" It seems like he will be kicked out once his next birthdate."

In this world, In high society if you aren't informed of the reason of Party and you suddenly announce this kind of thing, it says you aren't even worth it to have a separate function about it.

" Come on everyone, Now we will start the Engaged Duo's performance."

Is she asking me to perform a Ballroom Dance? It is also a tradition of the Kingdom,in which Newly engaged couples have to perform it once in their lifetime at their engagement party. It usually requires a lot of training and practice with your partner. Is she that set on Destroying my image in high society?

Hey lady, what did I even do to you? But the problem is Aria, how is she gonna handle this situation? It's her first time at any party and now she has to perform in front of everyone.

" What are you doing? Everyone is waiting for you."
The Duchess said quietly.

As I descended the stairs and Walked towards Aria and extended my hand. I could see the nervousness on her face and trembling. I closed my distance and whispered in her ears. But before I could say something she spoke.

"I have never danced in my life. So please forgive me if I ever make a mistake".
She spoke, shutting her eyes tightly and tilting her head downwards slightly.

" It looks like we are riding on the same boat but I will say this beforehand. We will Alright, even if we mess this up, as long as we are together we can do this, trust me."

I nodded my head and later patted her head lightly.

"It seems you are different from what the rumors were about and I'm really glad about it that you are my first partner"
She smiled lightly as we started to walk in the center of the hall where a few minutes ago the Duke and Duchess performed.

I took a long breath, music started to play in the background, people's intense gazes could be felt as if they were just waiting for our failures.

But to both of our surprises, Aria and I suddenly felt like our nerves had suddenly become Quiet. Our heart beats that were quite high have suddenly become quieter. And our body has started to move on our own.

Aria could feel it too as if someone is controlling our body. And just like that we started to perform effortlessly. Our moves were so choreographed that no one can tell that it was our first time performing.

The performance made people stunned for so long that they forgot that the performance was over and they were still standing in nonchalant. But suddenly the first unknown person started to clap and the whole hall filled with claps and praises.

If I have to guess, someone has controlled our body during the dance but whoever it was, I have to find him or her. But at least it isn't the Duchess as I can see her emotionlessly standing beside the duke.

Everyone started to congratulate us and promised to send engagement gifts which I really don't mind. I mean who doesn't like gifts. But I think I have received my gift as Aria is Looking super happy and excited after that performance even if she knew that it wasn't her who performed. At least she is keeping this a secret for now.

" Hunter!"

Duke suddenly called me. As soon as I stood in front of him he suddenly spoke.

"Congratulations on your engagement. As my present, I allowed you to take one item, anything from the Vault of The Duchy."

"Thanks Father."

Vault of the Duchy, The storage room In which the unique items that are made and purchased by the Duchy is in Display. It's like a Museum. It contains Jewels, weapons, personal Stuffs of People if duchy, past Nobles and stuff like that. You could find a statue made by a Commoner artist from a hundred years ago or Unique jewel made by a current jeweler.
