Chapter 4

A few months later and I soon realised I couldn't keep my two boys inside my apartment anymore. They had grown to the height of my shoulder, which was scary considering now I had two armoured toddlers with razor sharp teeth and claws.

Kori had figured out how to open the bathroom door and as a result Berilo and he got in and trashed the place beyond repair.

I dialled in Dr Wu's number and gave him a call regarding if there was a paddock or pen for Kori and Berilo to stay in now that they were so big. Dr Wu seemed in a hurry and promised to look into it for me.

I put down my phone once he had hung up and opened the cabinet to pull out some meat.

Kori and Berilo instantly paused their antics and turned towards me, their eyes wide in wonder as if I had never fed them, ever.

I halved it and let them chop it down though it was obvious they needed a lot of meat, meat I couldn't provide them with. It made me sad but I was glad to see them happy and eating.

How could they now be over 150kg already?

It felt like I had known them a lifetime, even if it was only 6 months.

Berilo and Kori suddenly burst into a chase as Berilo nipped at his brother for attention and Kori angrily growled back and gave chase.

I knew I had to keep out of the way considering how big they were now, I had to duck as tails claws and teeth flew. The two threw the body weight around. Kori uses his agility and brains to evade his brother, all the while Berilo chirping with delight at the attention he was getting.

I wanted desperately to break it up but ever since Berilo grew to the size he could easily kill me there had been an unspoken switch in ranks. Berilo and Kori respected my space and some of my commands and valued my existence, however, Berilo had now become the new unspoken leader.

He didn't take much responsibility for his new role, only playing or begging for attention half the time and the rest of the time he was snoozing or eating.

When Kori had finally had enough of Berilo's taunts he roared fiercely and Berilo stepped down.

"Come here, boys!" I called holding out my arms and looking at Berilo and Kori.

Kori chittered and moved into my arms, not laying on me, his head in my arms and his tail curled around my ankle.

Berilo's nostrils flared with annoyance as his brother got attention and Berilo crawled onto the other-side, his head resting on my chest and he cuddled by my side.

I chuckled at the two. They really were like little boys.

I heard a knock at the door and sat up, Berilo let out a small growl and yelp of distress and I felt a bit guilty but went to answer the door.

"Miss Wood," a man from the labs stood there. A few men wearing army and A.C.U gear stood behind him with some big crates.

"Yes," I step out of my room and close the door behind me.

"We have found a big enough habitat for the assets you possess," the man explained.

I felt a bit of relief at that and let my shoulders relax and I nod. "I'd rather not be present when you tranquilise them," I tell them and they seem to understand. Posh and long words seemed to be scientists' language.

I noticed one of the guys eyeing my shirt that had bite marks and slobber stains from Kori on it and how my arms had cuts and bruises on them from Berilo. I noticed his eyes widened.

I would tell him he would be fine but deep down I knew that wasn't true. I hoped Kori and Berilo wouldn't kill anyone, but I also knew that I was the only person able to get close to them.
