I watched as ACU moved into the paddock instead of feeding Berilo and Kori, I was in the viewing tower, nervous to see how the two would handle being transported from their comfy home to a new, smaller and more overwhelming one.
Kori seemed to stay lower to the ground, his eyes level with the closest ACU member. His head tilted studiously.
Berilo advanced about to roar but the ACU member jabbed him with a taser and Berilo stepped back with a yelp.
Kori moved his head closer to the ACU member, testing his boundaries. I silently wished the ACU member wouldn't show any sign of fear or nervousness.
He seemed to because Kori noticed this and stepped back dodging his taser and then Kori wrapped his claws on the taser, ripping it out of the man's arms and turning it off.
He remembered from over a year ago how tasers worked and what signs a human was about to attack.
Another man went in to jab Kori with a taser but didn't expect Kori to bite down on the taser and snapping it in half so it turned off with a low buzzing sound.
Someone tried to jab him while he was distracted but he didn't yelp or whine and instead spun around his tail knocking the person in the head before they could react.
Berilo followed his brother's lead, biting tasers and attacking people.
I put a hand over my mouth as some of the men screamed as teeth and claws were sunk into their heads, limbs or torsos.
I turned my head away from the bloodbath and hid behind a desk in the viewing tower.
Why couldn't my boys just cooperate? What would Masrani and Claire think?
Those poor men.
I crawled down from the tower and looked around once the screams had died down.
Broken tools and mauled dead bodies lay scattered on the ground as Kori and Berilo ate.
I crawled into the paddock and stood by the open gate that was too small for them to get in.
I called out to them, their height suddenly seemed off-putting to me, they turned to me, Kori letting out a low clicking growl but when he recognised me he let out a chirp.
"Kori, what happened," I said in a condescending growl.
He stepped forward and let out a small rumbling growl as if to tell me 'don't use that tone on me'.
I had lost control of them, now they knew they could kill humans easily, they had no respect for me.
"Kori," I said in more of a plea.
He stepped forward and I stepped backwards uncontrollably in fear.
He let out a chitter of what I could only assume was an apology.
"You already had food over there," I pointed at the half eaten skinned cow.
Kori followed where my finger was pointing and let out a few clicks of understanding.
"How can I trust you now," I asked him. He tilted his head, not fully understanding what I was saying, he only knew a few words.
I stayed silent for a few moments and he continued to look at me, it was only then I realised how powerful he really was, now I was beginning to respect the power he held more now. It was terrifying.
Once he was a little hatchling who respected and looked up to me, he was so cute and small once, now as he was double my height and knew his strength and could very well be more intelligent than me I had to hold on to hope that he would spare me because of the affection he had for me.
"You didn't need to kill," I murmured.
He let out a chitter and pushed his snout into my belly. I hugged his snout back and he let out a soft purr.
Was this him being sorry or him telling me not to worry?
Berilo shoved his nose into my side nuzzling me for attention. I let out a gasp, that was going to bruise but I gave him some chin scratches and pats anyway. He was being gentle.
"You guys are so big now!" I giggle, wiping tears. I didn't even know were running down my cheeks.
What was I going to do now?
They were massive and apparently they haven't stopped growing. I knelt down and pushed Berilos' head up, wrapping my arms around his neck. He pressed his massive head on my back and I felt safer.
I gripped onto him, wanting to feel this way forever, I had felt so unsafe a few moments ago, now with Berilo I was safer than I had ever felt before.
He sat back, almost like a dog, his tail curled around his big feet, but I refused to let go even when my feet left the ground as he held me to his chest with his arms, similar to how I used to hold him.
"Thank you," I murmured.
It was like having two big brothers who would kill everyone but you. Interesting feeling too.
Kori sat across from Berilo and pressed his head into my back, both purring so loud my entire body was vibrating violently and I didn't find the touching moment so touching as it was kind of getting painful.
