The next day, I went to see Kori and Berilo. Masrani and a lady named Claire as well as an A.C.U member drove me there and gave me a head camera to record the experiences. Apparently Masrani thought a sneak peak to a new attraction may entertain some visitors and entice them to come see the park.

Not that I minded, it was a mild inconvenience, at least I still got to see my little boys.

Well, they weren't so little anymore.

I thought we were going to stop at the gate but Masrani kept driving.

"I think it's great you have such a ... such a... special bond with the creatures," Masrani said. He had been serenading me with compliments on my work for the whole drive. "When will they be fully grown, Claire?" He calls over his shoulder to her.

"3 or 4 years," Claire calls back.

"How big will they grow?" Masrani asks.

"Uh..." Claire fiddled around with paper and read out, "over 60 feet long and 25 feet high, and will weigh over 10 tons."

"That's big," Mr Masrani muttered under his breath.

We came to what looked like a viewing tower that was built into the fence and a glass semi dome below it. The forest wasn't as dense here, it looked like a big meadow clearing. There was a crane attached to the tower facing away from the paddock and Mr Masrani parked the

He parked just under the crane and we all piled out of the ute. The back had a big skinned cow in it, it was wrapped in ropes and the man from ACU attached the hook of the crane to one of the ropes.

"You go up into the crane and swing this over into the enclosure," he tells me.

I nod, putting on my head cam and heading up into the tower. It was a spiral staircase and at the top was a room surrounded by glass and the controls for the crane. It had been a while since I had seen someone control one. When my dad moved crocodiles he had used one but that was years ago.

"Okay..." I turned the crane on and pulled a few levers and buttons and figured out after some fiddling how to move it.

I lowered it into the enclosure and pressed a button that unhooked it. I went down to the ACU member. "How do I get in the paddock?"

"There's a small gate just down there," he pointed, looking at me sceptically.

I nodded and walked down to the gate, it wasn't really a gate, it was more like a door in the fence. I walked in and waited by the food. It was a lot of meat and smelled terrible.

I knew Kori had probably already picked up the scent, I could imagine him chittering to Berilo if he could smell it too. I wondered where they were right now.

Yesterday, I had let them run off and explore, Dr Wu had told me about the big lake they had chosen to build the paddock around. I hoped the boys hadn't drowned.

The more I thought about that the more worried I was. Berilo would definitely dive straight into the water. He obviously would struggle a bit so I hoped his instincts were strong enough. Kori would probably spend more time sniffing, wading through and testing boundaries before he even got deep enough to swim.

I hoped Kori could save Berilo if something bad happened.

Suddenly, I saw two figures running at me, Berilo leading the way, his scales wet. I had been right, they both had probably been swimming. Because of the water his scales somehow had become more vibrant, even Kori's green markings had turned bright green. They looked very happy and healthy in their new paddock.

Kori was the first to notice me and turned towards me, then Berilo realised what Kori was doing and it turned into a race.

"Boys!" I started to run to them too.

Berilo slammed his head into me so hard I fell back with a hmph! It hurt like crazy but I quickly forgot about my pain when he started nuzzling me happily. Kori letting out a long trill of happiness to see me.

Berilo then turned his big head to his food, it was then I realised the two must've had another growth spurt. I stood up and turned to Kori, yup, his head was up to my chin now.

Berilo ran to the food and Kori ran after him. I sat by them watching as they ate so much I could see their tummies had grown.

Kori then looked up at the tower, his nostrils flaring in what seemed to be distaste. I didn't know why he was looking at it that way but I didn't push it. When the meat was nothing but a couple scraps. I began walking into the forest.

Berilo and Kori followed, too full to run anymore. I placed a hand on both of their shoulders, wanting to show how much I appreciated their presence. "Having fun in your new home?" I coo.

Kori lets out a small series of chirps. He probably couldn't understand me but it was nice to hear him sounding so healthy and happy. Though I did feel guilty I hadn't been giving them this life before this.

Berilo took the lead, he led us to the lake, it was pretty big if I was honest, at least 10 acres. The water was a clear blue but you wouldn't be able to see the bottom because it was definitely deep. The shallow parts were alright, I didn't mind them but the thoughts of what lay in the depths of the lake made my stomach churn.

Berilo and Kori lay in the shade of a cool tree. I lay beside them, Berilo resting his head on my chest and Kori's tail resting on my leg though he was facing away from me.

It hit me that last night was the first night we hadn't been sleeping all on one bed. It must've been scary for these boys. I should've been there.

I felt Berilos rubbery dorsal fin on my finger-tips. They were feeling flimsy but also thick in my fingers. The way Berilo seemed to purr with me doing this meant he liked fin rubs, so I continued.

Have I mentioned how much I love my boys?
