Spring 7

What was she supposed to wear to a family dinner with her not-ex boyfriends estranged father?

Looking in the mirror, she was torn. A dress seemed like the right option. But then it felt like she was trying too hard, and she didn't like how Kent seemed to be able to read her mind, that his eyes seemed all knowing.

He would know how she was trying to impress him, know she was being fake. Is she fake?

She shook the thought out of her head. It was cute, modest, respectable. A long sleeved, casual blue dress. That was appropriate, right?

A knock on the door snapped her out of it.

"Hello? You ready?" She heard Sam's voice call out to her, drawing her out of her room.

He stood in the doorway, looking her up and down, a small smirk tugging at his lips.

"Wow." He said softly as she reached him, causing her to repress her smile.

He took his hand out from behind his back, handing her a tulip.

"Don't tell Evelyn I stole this." He said as she took it from his hand.

"What a gentleman you've become... I like it." Wren smiled at him.

She pushed up onto her toes, her hands delicately landing on the side of his face to pull him in for a soft kiss.

That's how any of their kisses where now, soft. Just slow and short enough, clearly leaving him frustrated when she'd pull away. She knew what she was doing, but the anticipation, the tension... was to die for.

He let out a deep sigh when she pulled away, running his tongue along the inside of his mouth, his eyes annoyed.

"What?" She asked, feigning innocence as she pulled her shows on.

"Nothing. You're just having a great time, huh?"

"I don't know what you're talking about..." She teased, looping her fingers with his as they started down the farm towards the forest.

"You're annoying, you know?" He laughed, shaking his head.

"Why are you dancing around it? Use your words..." She nudged him, getting too much enjoyment out of his attitude.

"Okay." He said, nodding for a second, "We haven't had a sex in almost two months. That's a long time. And I think you're trying to torture me."

Wren laughed loudly, turning with a shocked look on her face, "Wow- I said use your words, not be crass!"

"What? Am I wrong? Are you not doing that?" He asked, glaring at her slightly.

She shrugged, a smug look on her face, "I didn't say that."

Sam scoffed, running his hand through his hair.

"You think it's funny?"

"Yeah, pretty funny, you getting all hot and bothered."

His eyes shifted, she knew that look.

"I know what you're trying to do. You think if you do this long enough, I'll crack, show up at your door, and we'll be up all night, mind blown, and you'll just get to lay there."

Wren laughed again, letting her head fall backwards.

"Well you know me too well."

"I won't break, you know. You're gonna have to come to me." He said, a petty tone in his voice.

"Is that a challenge?" She raised an eyebrow, to which he smirked.

"Sure. First one to break... does all the work."
