Mipha's grace is now ready

(Set after Link defeated the waterblight ganon)

(TW: thoughts about death and character death, but like not really)

(Link's POV)

Link had gotten Mipha's gift. The Mipha's grace as she had called it. It was supposedly the gift to heal injuries but Link had not quite figured out how to use it.

He had tried it on Sidon right after the fight, since he had been hit by a small ice shard while helping Link take down the divine beast.

Link had closed his eyes and focused really hard but nothing had happened.

"Don't worry Link. I am sure you will learn to wield my sister's power correctly in no time." Sidon had said, flashing his signature smile.

Link wasn't quite sure though. It had been almost a week already and he had tried to use the grace to all of his injuries during that time. Nothing worked.

He didn't get it. He really didn't. The other champions gifts were rather easy to use. Daruk, Urbosa and even Revali had all given him simple explanations of the use of their powers before disappearing but Mipha had just stood there.

"You will figure out how to use it when the time comes." Mipha had said smiling sadly.

Rather cryptic if you asked Link.

He just wanted to get the grace ready before the ganon fight so that he could use it if he needed to.

As he was surfing through the possible possibilities, he didn't really notice the silver lizarfos running into him. Link stumbled back. Right back off the cliff he was standing on.

He lost his footing and began falling fastly towards the ground. He was quite dizzy so when he tried to open the glider he noticed to his great horror that it just wouln't open.

'So this ist how I'm gonna die.' Link thought finding surprisingly some peace in the thought. 'I'm gonna fall off a cliff after a lizarfos pushed me off. Well I guess nobody will ever really know how I died.' he thought, mentally shrugging.

'Oh wait! I didn't save Zelda yet... I suppose the next hero will finish ganon and all that.' mental sigh. 'After all, I happen do be dead in a moment.'

'Actually when am I gonna hit the ground? Feels like it has been an eterni-' Splat.

"Aaaahg... what the hell..." Link gasped. He groaned as he began to open his eyes.

He was at the bottom of the cliff. The cliff was seriously like 20 meters high or something so there should be absolutely no way that Link had survived. Yet there he was, nothing but his bit dirty clothes to show for ever falling off the cliff.

"Okay... okay, okay, okay. What just happened..." Link mumbled panicked.

There was no way that- there actually was a way. Link just didn't like it. Did he really have to die to activate Mipha's grace?!

Link quickly pulled out his slate and travelled towards the only person who could maybe aid him in this.

"Sidon!" Link shouted whitch certainly got Sidon's attention since Link wasn't really the type to normally shout.

"My friend, although it is great to see you, it seems you have something on your mind." Sidon said looking at Link worriedly.

"Can we go somewhere more private." Link said looking stressed.

"Sure Link." Sidon answered looking at Link, wondering what this could possibly be.

They began walking towards Sidon's room since it was one of the best places on earth, at least in Link's opinion. The room had cozy sofas and snacks hidden in every cabinet. Although the snacks would be pretty much gone after Link visited.

They soon reached their destination and Sidon sat down on his bed, slightly tapping the space next to him, telling Link to sit down as well.

"I uh... figured out Mipha's healing gift." Link said looking at the ground.

"Oh Link! But that is amazing, is it not?" Sidon asked since Link had been talking about nothing else for the past week than getting it to work.

"Not quite... I mean I guess it is but It doesn't work the way I thought it would." Link said, flopping at his back so that he could stare at the ceiling for a change.

"I thought that might happen..." Sidon said thoughtfully.

When Link just looked at him confused, he continued. "The gift of healing Mipha had, has been in our family for a long time. Many generations of us has had the same gift, but it always changed. I suppose that now that the ability has a new holder it shifted with you." Sidon explained.

"Oh... well I guess that makes sense." Link answered looking a bit surprised. He had really thought that he'd just get Mipha's powers, like he had done with all the other champions.

"What exactly can you do with it?" Sidon asked carefully, getting back on the topic.

"I can come back from the dead." Link stated, his face completely neutral.

"WHAT!" Sidon exclaimed very loudly.

"Shhhh... you want the whole domain to hear? But yes, I can come back from the dead." Link said tiredly.

"And you're absolutely sure this doesn't heal you in any other way?" Sidon asked looking straight into Link's eyes.

"Yes." Link assured.

"Well... that is quite the strange ability." Sidon commented looking at the wall thinking simething. "Don't go doing dumb stuff thinking you're immortal though. I remember when my sister used her power, it would quicky become tiring. She sometimes couldn't use her power for a couple of days at all." Sidon explained, trying to make sure Link wouldn't be stupidly jumping into dangerous situations. Well any more than usual that is.

"Yeah yeah, I'll be careful." Link assured rolling his eyes a bit.

They sat in the silence for a moment until Link went to get some snacks from the corner cabinet. There were all Sidon's candies. Link ate happily half of the bag, as they just happened to be his favourite. Little did Link know that Sidon didn't even like them and just bought them to make Link happy.

"Wait a moment..." Sidon said breaking the silence. "If it only heals you when you're about to die, then what did you do to figure it out?" Sidon asked connectimg the dots.

"Whoops, look at the time. I better get going." Link said jumping from the bed and throwing the almost fully eaten candy bag on the bed, and running away.

"Link! You better get back here right now!" Sidon shouted running after Link.

Story says that Link ist still running from Sidon's wrath. May he rest in peace when Sidon finally gets his hands on him.
