TW: drowning, near-death experience
(3rd person POV)
The day had started out like any other day and like any other day, it had gone to shit quite quickly.
The six of them had decided to go camping together to spend some time away from everyone else, after the calamity was destroyed. They were currently on the Great Plateau, near the Temple of Time. They were going to climb mount Hylia today so Link was by the fire preparing some warm dishes for all of them. Revali, being Rito and all was giving out some cold equipment for all of them.
Soon enough they were ready to start travelling towards the mountain peak. They first walked to the path entrance, Daruk looking a bit grumpy and travelling as the last. Being a goron, he really wasn't used to the cold. Link was leading the way with Zelda since they were the only ones that had ever really been there. As they made their way up Link (suprising all) opened a conversation.
"Did you guys know that if you drop a chuchu jelly on the ground here, it turns into an ice chuchu jelly." stated Link, breaking the silence.
"No... I don't really know why I should've known that." Revali aswered looking as annoyed as he always does.
"It's usefull information. You can make food easier if you have different chuchu jellys at hand." Link said proudly.
"You... make food of it..." Revali's face paled.
"Yeah! It's good. Lot's of protein in them." Link continued happily.
"Please tell me you did not put chuchu in our disches." said Zelda a bit fearfully thinking back at those warm dishes Link made them earlier.
"No, it doesn't go well with peppers. But I'll make sure you'll get to taste my chuchu dishes later." Link promised to the group.
"You really don't have to do that." murmured Revali quietly. The rest of the group launghing silently at the back.
They were currently halfway to the top and were walking quite close to the edge of the path.
"No no you have to taste it, it's really good. Everyone I've made it says so. You can actually make fire chuchus on death mountain by the same log-" Link was cut off suddenly by the ground crumbling underneath his feet.
"Link!" They all yelled in surprise, sprinting off to catch him before he'd fall off.
But they were too slow.
The ground took Link with it and he fell and fell until a loud splash was heard.
"Shit! We have to go right now. The water is freezing out here, if we don't get him soon he'll freeze to death." Urbosa explained quickly.
"You take the path, I'm diving. We sea Zoras are used to cold water, I can hadle it." Mipha stated and jumped down without waiting any longer.
Revali flew after her and the rest of them started running the path down.
............................................................................
(Link's POV)
It was dark. And cold. And all he wanted to do was sleep. That was strange wasn't it? Because usually he never wanted to sleep. No, he hated sleep. After 100 years of slumber he decided that he had slept quite enough. So why would he want to sleep now?
The next thing he noticed was that he couldn't feel anything. But that wasn't that important wasn't it?
He started to hear a little tho. Just some voices that he couldn't place a name on. The voices were really familiar tho. They sounded like they were comin closer and closer every second.
"That's right. Open your eyes lil' guy." that was Daruk.
"Link, we need you to open your eyes." and that was Mipha.
"We know you're tired but it's important." Urbosa pleaded.
Right, his friends were there. And he needed to open his eyes. Were they not open the whole time?
"That's good Link." Said Zelda when he finally managed to open his eyes. It was hard since his eyes felt heavy as lead.
"Wh't h'ppe'nd." Link tried to ask with his throat burning like hell.
"You almost drowned Link." said Revali, looking a bit teary eyed. Although he'd propably kill anyone who'd dare to point it out.
Drowned? Well that explains the throat pain. And the numbness. Was that normal?
"I can't fe'l an'thin." Link murmured next.
"Well that isn't good. We'll have to get him somewhere warm before the hypothermia becomes uncurable." Mipha stated worriedly.
(3rd person POV)
Daruk picked the shivering Link up (at least he was still shivering so the hypothermia hadn't set in too badly.) and they started making their way up to a cave that Zelda had said to be nearby. They all glanced every now and then at Link who's eyes where close and who was taking in shallow shuttering breaths.
They soon arriwed at the cave and Daruk lowered Link onto the ground. They quickly went throught Link's slate looking for the some wood and flinch to keep them warm.
They made the bonfire and put Link as close to the fire that they could without burning him.
"I's n'ce wi'h you'll" Link murmured with a peaceful smile on his face.
"Yeah, I think he'll be fine." Urbosa said smiling as she sat on the ground next to link and started petting his hair.
Soon enought all of them were sleeping around Link, who's head was on Urbosas lap and who couldn't remember ever feeling this safe.
So that's all for this chapter :)
