"What the hell do you mean you desiccated Klaus?!" I shouted at Elijah through the phone, my heart racing as I stepped onto the familiar streets of Mystic Falls. Negotiating for our brother wasn't how I envisioned my return.

"Aurora, I implore you to remain calm," he replied, his voice measured and cool. "The Salvatore's desiccated Niklaus, but we will get him back. Just get to the Gilbert residence now." Before I could respond, he hung up. Who does he think he is? "I implore you to remain calm"? It's the 21st century he could at least try to sound like he's not a thousand years old.

Arriving at Elena's house, I burst through the door without knocking. Stefan and Matt looked relieved to see me, clearly glad it wasn't a different Original. But Elena stepped back, her expression wary. "Aurora, I can explain-"

I held up a hand, cutting her off. "No, Elena. You've done enough. I called the Salvatore's to protect you, and then you killed my brother?" I advanced on her, my anger simmering just below the surface.

"Aurora, that's quite enough." Elijah's voice was stern, but I brushed past him, my focus on Elena. Suddenly, a hand grabbed my arm of course it was Elijah, as if he thought I'd snap her neck in a fit of rage.

I sat down on  a chair. Elena sat down across from me. Elijah loomed behind me, his hands resting on my shoulders, a silent reminder that I wouldn't just lash out at Elena.

"All we have to do is disarm Alaric," Elijah said, a sarcastic smile creeping onto his face. "Once we have the weapon, my family can scatter to the ends of the Earth, and Alaric will follow us." Stefan shot me a sympathetic glance.

"So you'll just run?" he challenged, scepticism evident in his voice.

"We've done it before," Elijah replied, unfazed. "Klaus, Rebekah, and Aurora spent centuries evading our father. What's another fifty years while Elena lives her natural life?"

"Wait, I didn't agree to that-" I protested, but Elijah punched my shoulder.

"I'm not running again just so Elena can be a human," I said, looking directly at her. "Why won't you just become a vampire? You'd be eternally beautiful, stronger and it would kill Alaric. And you wouldn't have to kill anyone. Stefan can show you his 'bunny diet.'"

Elena shook her head. "I don't want to be a vampire. The thought of living off human blood no matter the cost I would never become one."

I shrugged. "It's not that bad, unless you're a ripper. Look at Caroline she has amazing control and doesn't drink from the vein!"

"No, Aurora, she's not turning into a vampire," Stefan interjected, his voice firm. I rolled my eyes and let Elijah continue with his plan.

"We finally stopped him, Elijah, After everything he's done, I can't just let you bring him back."

"I give you my word, Elena. I will not revive Klaus not in your lifetime, nor in your children's lifetime. Perhaps it'll teach him some manners." He avoided mentioning my potential to resurrect him, or Rebekah, or Kol. I folded a napkin on the table, only for Elijah to take it from me and neatly refold it. I suspected he had a touch of OCD.

Matt finally chimed in, breaking the tension. "Why should she trust you? You've only screwed her over."

"Why are you even here, Matt?" I asked, grinning at his defensive stance, hands on his hips. He rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed.

Elijah glanced at him, then turned back to Elena. "And for that, I am ashamed. But know this: she could have been dead the moment I walked through that door. So, Elena, the decision is yours. Trust me or not."

Just then, Ash walked into the kitchen, adding an unexpected voice. "We should give them their brother back. They can protect him better than us. Alaric could find him easily, and then poof we're all dead."
