Klaus and Stefan were in the living room talking about the brotherhood of the five and our past, as i walked downstairs they paused. Not talking anymore.
"don't be quiet on my account, go on." Klaus placed his hands behind his back with a sly grin on his face walking towards me.
"you remember the brother hood of the five yes?" I sighed and glanced up not wanting to have this conversation again. "How can i forget, you use my one mistake in those couple days against me whenever you can."
"Then do explain to Stefan here who they are." I looked over at Stefan seeing his desire for more information.
"The brotherhood of the five were a group of vampire hunters with faster reflexes and more strength then your average hunter. We ran into them in Italy 1114. They ran the south showing the villagers the vampires they captured spreading a lot of awareness about our kind. Rebekah was fond of one of them. Alexander. She fell in love with him but he wasn't in love with her. He told our family their secrets-"
"Nuh uh, don't forget a important detail sweetheart, he wasn't interested in Rebekah, who was he interested in then?" Klaus had a smug smile on his face as i scowled i could hit the look clean off his face.
"the hunter fell in love with me. he told me all their secrets. I did not return the affection towards him." I was going to continue the story when Klaus held up his hand slightly so i paused.
"Aurora can tell you the rest when you do one thing for me, get Rebekah over here."
"i'm not telling Stefan anything else goodbye nick." I grabbed my handbag and headed towards the door.
"Be back before dinner little sister you have a dinner to attend." Klaus called out and i spun back. "What? I'm not going to any dinner."
"You do not have a choice, Rebekah will be there and if you really don't want to go i'll invite your little boyfriend who i haven't yet gotten rid of." I froze.
"I'll be there"

I stood at the edge of the forest, the cool breeze brushing against my skin as I waited for Ash. He'd texted me, saying he'd be ten minutes late, though he didn't explain why. Despite my irritation, I stayed. My fingers tapped against my thigh as I paced back and forth, the minutes dragging by. Patience was never my strong suit, and today was no exception.
Just as I was about to send him another text, I heard the faint rustle of leaves nearby. I turned, and there he was, stepping out from behind the trees with a boyish grin and something hidden behind his back.
"Finally," I said, crossing my arms. "You're cutting it close."
Ash didn't answer right away, his grin widening as he revealed what he'd been hiding—a neatly wrapped bundle of beignets dusted with powdered sugar, still warm and smelling heavenly.
"Figured I'd make it worth the wait," he said, holding the bag out to me like a peace offering.
The tension melted from my shoulders as I accepted the treat. "You bribed me with food. Smart move."
He laughed. "That's not all."
Before I could ask what he meant, he gestured for me to follow him. We walked deeper into the forest until we reached a small clearing I hadn't noticed before. A blanket was spread across the grass, surrounded by fairy lights strung between the trees, their soft glow twinkling in the early evening light.
I blinked, taken aback. "You did all this?"
He nodded, his expression a mix of pride and nervousness. "I wanted to surprise you. Thought we could use a quiet moment together."
I turned to him, my annoyance completely forgotten. "Ash, this is... amazing."
He reached for my hand, leading me to the blanket. "I even brought your favourite," he said, pulling out a thermos. "Hot chocolate, with extra marshmallows."
I couldn't help but laugh as I sank onto the blanket beside him, the beignets still clutched in my hand. "You really thought of everything."
We spent the next hour laughing, eating, and talking, the forest around us alive with the sounds of nature. As the sun began to set, casting golden hues through the trees, he leaned in closer, brushing a stray hair from my face.
"You're happy, right?" he asked softly.
I smiled, resting my head against his shoulder. "I am."
"Aurora what if we just moved away from all of this, we could live in New Orleans. You love it there and i'm happy where you are. You'll be closer to Davina like you said you wanted."
"I want to Ash i really do. But i can't just leave Caroline and Bonnie or-"
"Your siblings" I thought about it for a moment they were the only people keeping me here. He had a small smile on his face and he stroked my hair. "Whatever you want my love. But when your ready to leave this awful town, and you know your friends will be okay. We can start a new chapter of our lives. We can get a small cottage not to far from the quarter but still quiet, away from all the mystic falls drama." I nodded thinking about it.
"That sounds lovely. Can we get a dog?" he laughed.
"thats the first thing you thought?" I just stared at him. "Fine yes we can get a dog."
I felt a buzzing it was just my phone, i looked at the caller ID and of course its Klaus.
I answer the phone bringing it up to my ear. "What do you want Nicklaus"
"You need to get home Aurora. Dinner is in 15 minutes Stefan got Rebekah here. I hear another heartbeat next to you and knowing you its Caroline or that boyfriend of yours, and i know its not Caroline because shes with Elena." I roll my eyes and Ash almost laughed.
"You know Aurora i have yet to properly meet Ash. I know you can hear me mate. You invited to the dinner if you don't show i will tear out your heart-"
"Nicklaus, behave. We'll be there."
