Mahir steps into his house, dragging his feet and feeling utterly drained. Another day spent searching for any clue about his missing cousin, another day ending in frustration and worry. The ache of anxiety for her lingers in his chest. He feels on the verge of collapse when his phone buzzes in his pocket, jolting him. It’s Zaheer.
He answers, forcing himself to stay calm.
“I need you to get an important file from my cabinet,”
Zaheer orders coldly.
Mahir feels a surge of irritation. After all he’s been through today, being ordered around grates at him, but he manages to push it down and heads to Zaheer’s room.
As he begins searching through the cabinet, his fingers graze a file that slips and falls to the floor. He bends to pick it up and catches the name on the cover: *Nazia shah*.
He hesitates, curiosity gnawing at him. He opens the report, his eyes scanning the first page.
“Mamu aur Mumani were expecting twins,”
he murmured in disbelief.
His heart pounds as he turns the page, finding a birth certificate.
“Meerab’s birth certificate? What is it doing here?”
he mutters, confusion and shock flashing across his face.
Before he can process this, his phone rings again, making him tense up. It’s Zaheer, his voice sharp with impatience.
“Where the hell are you? I said to bring the file ages ago, and you’re still not here.”
Mahir’s frustration spikes, mixing with his worry and exhaustion. It takes all his strength to hold back his emotions. In a strained, steady voice, he replies,
“Yes, Mamu. I will get it in a few minutes.”
He ends the call, releasing a deep breath. The strange file in his hand weighs heavy with unanswered questions, but he sets it aside, determined to return to it later. After a long search, he finally locates the file Zaheer requested.
Heading back to his room, he carefully places the “Nazia shah” file in a safe spot, planning to go through it later. Then he walks outside, file in hand, and finds the driver.
“Take this to Mamu's office. Tell him I sent it,”
he says firmly.
He’s too drained and fed up to face Zaheer in person, not after that way he spoke to him earlier.
Meanwhile, Zakir receives the file and can’t hide a flicker of irritation. The fact that Mahir sent it through the driver instead of delivering it himself feels like a slight ,a sting of disrespect that Zakir wasn’t prepared for.

Under Nazia's gentle guidance, Meerab followed her instructions closely in the kitchen, exchanging the occasional smile as they worked together. A quiet, unspoken connection seemed to grow between them as they moved through each step, preparing the dishes with care. When lunch was finally ready, the entire family gathered around the table, admiring the spread of dishes before them.
Jalaluddin, sitting down with curiosity, glanced around.
“What’s the occasion, Salma? The cook has prepared so many dishes today.”
Salma shook her head, confused.
