The tension in the room was thick as Farjad took a step forward, introducing the two parties with a formal tone.
"Mr. Zaheer, this is my aunt, Nazia Khan. And phuphu, this is Mr. Zaheer Shah."
Zaheer gave a stiff nod, his unease visible despite his attempt to maintain composure.
Farjad smirked slightly before continuing,
"Phuphu, Mr. Zaheer was just telling me something interesting. He claims Meerab is committing fraud with us. According to him, this property also belongs to her twin brother, who is unaware of the sale. He says Meerab is selling it without his consent."
Nazia’s eyes sharpened, her gaze locking onto Zaheer with a quiet intensity.
"This property belonged to Anwar, correct? If I remember correctly, his mother’s will clearly stated that Anwar could only pass this property to his children and no one else. Anwar then named this house, other properties, and 70% of his share to his unborn child. Unfortunately, we were told neither the child nor Anwar survived. According to the clause, the property should have been given to charity after their deaths."
"So how do Mahir and Meerab own this property? It’s impossible…unless they are Anwar’s children. But how can that be? His daughter and he were declared dead years ago. So tell me, Zaheer, how did Mahir and Meerab come to inherit this property?"
Her voice was calm but piercing, each word cutting through Zaheer’s defenses like a blade.
Zaheer's face darkened as anger and panic flickered across his features
"How dare you come back here?"
he snapped, his voice raised.
"You don’t have the right to question me! You have no ties to this house anymore. Get out of here!"
Nazia held her ground, her expression unflinching.
"Lower your tone, Mr. Zaheer,"
she said icily.
"I am not the same Nazia who used to silently endure your tone and say nothing. Those days are gone."
Zaheer and Jahara exchanged stunned glances, not used to seeing Nazia like this.
"And let me remind you,"
Nazia continued, stepping forward,
"I do have the right to question you. This property was my husband’s. You will answer me."
Zaheer sneered, trying to regain control of the situation.
"It was your husband’s property. But don’t forget ,your husband is dead. He’s been gone for years."
A new voice cut through the room, calm but filled with authority.
"Her husband is standing right here."
All eyes turned toward the doorway. Zaheer and Jahara froze as Anwar stepped into the room. His presence was commanding, his expression a mixture of sorrow, anger, and righteous determination.
"Anwar,"
Zaheer stammered, his bravado crumbling.
"I am sorry I lied to you. Trust me, she left. She didn’t want to live with you. She wanted a divorce from you. I didn’t want to hurt you."
All heads turned toward the door where Anwar stood, his face stern and unreadable. His presence was electrifying, and for a moment, silence reigned as everyone processed his words. Zaheer and Jahara's faces drained of color as recognition dawned.
