The night was thick with tension, the air heavy with fear as we stood in the courtyard of Hogwarts. The Dark Lord's voice echoed in the silence, cold and victorious as he announced Harry's death. A chill ran down my spine, and I felt sick, my heart pounding in my chest. We were all gathered here like lambs, waiting for what came next, and when his eyes fell on Draco, my blood turned to ice.

"Draco," Voldemort called, his voice smooth, mocking almost, as though he knew exactly what he was doing.

I turned to Draco, my hand instinctively reaching for his. His face was pale, eyes wide with shock, with fear, but also something else. He was trapped, just like the rest of us, but this was different—he was being called to him. His father stood beside the Dark Lord, his mother's eyes pleading, waiting.

"Draco, don't," I whispered, my voice shaking as I gripped his hand tighter. "Please... stay with me. If you go, I'll never see you again." My throat was tight, the words heavy with desperation. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes, but I fought them back. I needed him to understand, to stay.

He turned to me, his hand still holding mine, and I could see the war raging inside him. His eyes were glassy, his breath shaky. "Come with me," he whispered, his voice breaking as tears began to fall down his face. "Please... come with me." His hand trembled as he squeezed mine, and I could see how much he was trying to hold it together. "We can leave. Now. We can go."

"Draco..." I shook my head, tears spilling over now, even though I tried to keep them at bay. "You know I can't. I can'tgo with you."

His father's voice rang out, cold and sharp. "Draco!" But Draco didn't move, didn't take his eyes off me. He was still standing there, still begging me with his eyes, his body shaking as his father called him again, more forceful this time.

"I can't," I whispered, feeling the words break something inside me.

He knew. He knew I wouldn't leave. And the moment he accepted it, his tears fell freely, his whole body trembling with the weight of it. He nodded, a hollow, broken movement, and then he stepped closer, pressing his lips to my forehead in a gentle, desperate kiss. "Maybe in another life," he whispered against my skin, the words filled with pain, with a finality that made my heart shatter.

Before I could say anything else, he pulled away, his eyes still locked on mine as he turned toward Voldemort. His steps were slow, reluctant, but he walked forward, his hand slipping from mine. My breath caught in my throat as I watched him walk away, his back to me, his body hunched, broken.

"Draco!" Voldemort called again, and finally, Draco reached his family. But just as they began to walk away, he stopped on the bridge, turning back, as if he was still waiting for me, still hoping. My chest tightened, my whole body screaming at me to run to him, to change my mind, but I couldn't. I couldn't leave. I shook my head, and his face crumpled in defeat. He looked down, his shoulders sagging before he continued walking with his parents.

"Such a disappointment," Voldemort sneered, his eyes landing on me now. "I had hoped for better from you."

I scoffed, forcing every ounce of defiance I had left into my voice. "Go to hell," I spat, my eyes narrowing in disgust. There was nothing more I could say to him. Nothing more he could take from me.

And then, everything exploded into chaos.

Suddenly, Harry was on his feet, alive, and the battle resumed, people shouting, spells flying everywhere. I fought with everything I had, blocking curses, protecting the younger students, throwing myself into the fight because there was nothing else left. I had already lost too much.

I found myself facing Death Eaters, people who had once been family friends, people I had grown up with. They didn't hesitate, so neither did I. I fought them off with all the strength I could muster, but the battle was brutal, relentless, and my body ached with every movement, every spell I cast.

Then, before I could react, a powerful curse knocked my wand from my hand. I stumbled back, falling to the ground as the Death Eater loomed over me, a cruel smirk twisting his face. "Such bravery," he sneered, raising his wand, his eyes glinting with malice. "And for what?"

Behind me, a young first-year cowered in fear, tears streaming down his face. I knew I couldn't let him die. I stood, placing myself between him and the Death Eater, my body trembling with exhaustion but my resolve unbroken. "Go," I whispered to the boy. "Run. Hide."

The boy hesitated for a second before nodding, scrambling to his feet and disappearing into the shadows.

The Death Eater chuckled darkly. "How noble," he mocked, his wand aimed at me now. "Let's see how long that lasts." He raised his wand, and before I could move, the spell hit me like a sledgehammer, knocking me off my feet, pain erupting in my chest as I crashed to the ground.

I could hear his footsteps approaching, his laughter echoing in my ears as I tried to push myself up, but my body was too weak, the pain too much.

And then... Draco.

"Get away from her!" Draco's voice was wild, frantic, and I saw him out of the corner of my eye, lunging at the Death Eater, knocking him back. His spells came fast, precise, until the Death Eater crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

But it was too late. I could feel it—the curse was inside me, spreading, the pain slowly numbing, my body growing colder by the second.

Draco dropped to his knees beside me, his hands trembling as he pressed down on my wound, trying desperately to stop the bleeding. "No, no, no... this can't be happening," he whispered, his voice broken, tears streaming down his face. "You're going to be okay. I'll fix this. Just stay with me. Please."

I looked up at him, my vision hazy, the world starting to blur at the edges. "I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice weak, barely a breath. "I'm sorry I couldn't be better."

"Stop," he begged, his voice cracking with emotion. "Don't say that. You're perfect. You're going to be fine. Just stay with me. Please... don't leave me."

I could feel his tears fall onto my face, but I managed a small smile, raising a trembling hand to wipe them away. "It's okay," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "It's okay."

"No, it's not," Draco sobbed, his whole body shaking as he held me, his hands covered in blood, my blood. "Please... don't leave me. I need you."

But I was slipping away, my body growing colder, my strength fading. I wished I could stay. I wished I could hold on for him, but the darkness was pulling me under.

"I love you," I whispered, my voice barely a breath.

And then everything went still. Everything went dark.
