"Excuse me, is this seat taken?"

Lucy blinked blearily. Did I fall asleep?

"Um, our friends, are, uh, sitting there — " Lucy faltered, looking the black-haired man up and down. Wait a minute, where were Erza, Happy, and Gray?

"My, my, my, he seems to be in a lot of pain," the mystery man chuckled, "are you alright?"

Lucy stared at him incredulously, holding Natsu closer to her. She didn't know why, but something in her gut screamed for her to get as far away from him as possible.

"Oh! A legal guild, and Fairy Tail at that!" The guy barked with laughter, catching a glance at her emblem, smiling fakely, "Man, I envy you."

"You guys get to live life freely, and I heard you got hot chicks too," the man sighed, resigned, before he leaned forward into Lucy's face, "I mean — I like what I see already." He smirked. Lucy leaned back as Natsu shot up between them, headbutting the guy.

The man reeled back in surprise before he erupted into more laughter. He knocked Natsu out of Lucy's grasp, stomping down on his face with a foot. Lucy gasped, standing up before he, too, slapped her, causing her to stumble onto the ground.

"C'mon, man, you don't wanna share?" He jeered snarkily, staring down at Natsu, whose eyes were locked onto him, "Don't ignore me. That's being discriminatory to dark guilds." He mocked.

"Natsu, he's part of Eisenwald!" Lucy cried out, holding her red cheek. Everything was clicking into place. Tears burned in her eyes, but she refused to acknowledge them. She wasn't Lucy right now, she was a mage doing work.

"Fairy Tail has been getting a lot of attention recently, and you know," the man drawled, "stuck up people like that annoy the hell out of me."

"You know what we call Fairy Tail? Flies."

Natsu's body erupted in flames, causing the man to jump away, hollering. Just as quickly as his black flames rose, they died as the train jostled with movement. Lucy watched pitifully as Natsu clutched at his unforgiving stomach. Oh no.

"What kind of magic is that?!" The guy laughed.

"You use your magic like this!" Shadow fists rose up from the ground, knocking Natsu back who cursed. He could do nothing but just take it, flying back and over the seat. Suddenly, the train came to a daunting stop, loose items flying all over the train car.

A bag landed in Lucy's sight, a flute with a skull at the end laying there innocently. From the guy's reaction, it only confirmed what Lucy was thinking as he hastily grappled for the flute.

"Natsu, get the flute!" Lucy said, getting on her feet. He wasted no time, dashing forward with a punch; fist embezzled with black flames. The bastard flew back, hitting a row of seats.

"Fly punch," Natsu smirked before the intercom came on.

"We've confirmed that the emergency break was due to a false report, we'll be departing shortly."

Natsu groaned, running back over to Lucy, grabbing their things along the way. He sniffed the air a few times, grinning back at the guy; baring his fangs before he hauled ass, jumping out of the window. Lucy shrieked, holding onto Natsu for everything she was worth, before they abruptly collided with something hard.

"Geez, jumping out of a damn window? Really?" Gray groaned, smushed beneath the weight of both Natsu and Lucy. Lucy jumped up, fixing her pink peplum top and her skirt while smiling sheepishly.

"I guess Natsu thought it was our best option at the time," she said softly, watching Natsu who sat crouched on the ground with his head in his hands.

"You three okay?" Erza emerged from around the magical vehicle, revealing a cord hooked into what Lucy could only assume was her magic supply.

"How could you leave us behind?" Natsu grumbled, muffled behind the cushion of his hands. He lifted his hands to glare fiercely at the redhead, who turned away from his stare.

"I'm happy you're both safe, I apologize for leaving you, it was a mistake on my behalf," Erza said, bowing deeply.

"There was a member of Eisenwald on that train, we need to go after him; he had a flute," Lucy explained quickly, dragging the boys into the car, "Lullaby, I remember it now. It's death magic, the flute had a skull at the end with three eyes. A cursed song." Lucy finished horrified.

"We need to go," Erza whipped around, waiting for the door to close before she began driving. Her driving was erratic and the three mages in the back stumbled amongst themselves. One question on all of their minds: what the hell are they trying to do?

-----

"They took over a train?" Lucy murmured as Erza slowed the vehicle. Peering out of the window, Lucy caught the sight of smoke as she pulled Natsu up off of the ground.

"Erza! The train station!"

With a new destination in mind, the vehicle picked up speed and in the next few minutes, they arrived in front of the smoking building. Filing out with Natsu leaned against her side, Lucy watched as Erza went to work; questioning the employees, but to no avail.

They started to go inside, stepping over the beaten bodies of magic soldiers all along the steps.

"The military against a guild full of mages, they never even stood a chance," Gray voiced, pushing past the bodies hurriedly, "the platform is this way! Come on!"

"I knew you'd come, Fairy Tail,"

In front of them stood a group of about seventy wizards with a man, looking stern and thin, hanging off the side of the stopped train. He carried a large scythe on his shoulder, staring down mockingly at the group of Fairy Tail wizards.

"You're Erigor, aren't you?" Erza said, demeanour serious as she glared.

Lucy could feel the tension thicken with every passing second. Natsu, who had his arm slung around her shoulder, leaned against her heavily with his eyes closed. She could barely tell if he was even awake.

"Natsu, get it together," Lucy said quietly, trying to sound as stern as possible, "we need you right now." As the questioning between the two sides went on, Lucy's attention was drawn to the sound of Erza's cry.

"Are you planning to broadcast the lullaby?!" She shouted with a look of disbelief.

"Shut your pesky little mouths!" I know that voice.

Lucy was pushed behind Natsu in a second, caged by the arm he threw out to protect her. She watched as the same shadow fist rose up from the ground, flying towards them. Natsu cut through it with his flames, heaving slightly.

"I'll leave the rest to you while I go play the flute," Erigor commanded, flying away. Lucy gaped as he burst through a window.

"Natsu, Gray, go after him, Lucy and I will handle this," Erza demanded, brandishing a sword from seemingly nowhere. Must be her magic.

"Erigor is planning to use the lullaby in this station, we have to prevent that from happening no matter what."

Gray stood expectantly while Natsu stared at Lucy, who looked back at him equally confused.

"Go on, I'll be fine, Happy can stay with me if you want," Lucy said quietly. Natsu scoffed lowly, spinning on his heel to walk away. Gray started running off in the direction of Erigor as Natsu turned around, giving her one last long stare before, he too, followed Erigor.

"He loves you — " Happy began to tease, but was silenced when the reminder of battle stood right in front of them.

Erza went straight to work, dashing forward, cutting down all those who stood in her way.

"She's amazing too," Lucy admired. She watched as a sword turned to a spear, then a sword, before splitting into twin blades.

"She uses requip magic, ancient and hard to learn, but Erza is probably one of a handful of people who has mastered its technique," Happy explained. In the distant, Lucy saw Erza's body glow before being completely overtaken by light. In the place of her regular armour, it'd changed into something Lucy could only begin to describe as an armoured battle dress.

The real battle had only just begun.
