"Man! That job was easier than I expected!" Lucy cheered, jumping up and down.
The group wandered the town they were stationed in for the time being, having finished their job a day early. Erza smiled at her enthusiasm while Gray groaned.
"Easy for you to say, you didn't even do any of the hard work," he grumbled, crossing his arms as he huffed. Lucy pouted. She pinched his side making him to yelp loudly causing the nearby townspeople to look at their group curiously.
Lucy clapped excitedly, "I've managed to keep a gate open consistently though! My training is really paying off," she smirked, sticking out her tongue at Gray who didn't hesitate in retaliating with the same treatment. Natsu grunted, staring at Lucy disapprovingly. The blonde pouted once more, rushing to Natsu, who looked down his nose at her. They held a silent conversation before Lucy deflated, sticking close by his side as he looked elsewhere. Happy stifled a giggle, dropping on top of Natsu's head who made no reaction to the everyday occurrence.
"I'm proud, you've come a long way, what spirits have you been practicing with?" Erza inquired.
"Oh! Taurus mainly and Virgo, Aquarius isn't the friendliest spirit," Lucy sighed with a tired smile as if just talking about the mermaid spirit wore her out, she looked across the street seeing a familiar ginger-haired mage, "hey, isn't that Loke?"
"Oh shit, you got work around here too?" Gray called out as the group approached him.
"By the way, Happy told me you were the ones to return my keys so — " Lucy started, preparing to bow.
"AH LUCY! I have work to do, I'll see you guys later!"
In the next few seconds, Loke bolted, sprinting as far away as he could from the blonde-haired mage. Lucy blinked, speechless, staring at the spot where he once was.
"Lucy, what did you do to him?" Happy gasped. She swatted at him annoyed and a little hurt. She wrapped her arms around herself, seeking comfort as she averted her eyes. Natsu ruffled her hair with a sigh.
"Loke has had some bad experiences with Celestial Spirit wizards, I wouldn't take it too personally," Erza advised.

But she did.
Lucy would be lying if she said that her interactions with Loke didn't leave her a bit sour. It'd been easy enough to get along with everyone else in the guild but Loke seemed adamant on staying as far away from her as he could. She munched angrily on her piece of confetti cake. The whole situation was irritating and as much as she wanted to just let it be, it kept plaguing her mind.
Behind her, Natsu and Gray tussled playfully; both injured from the pillow fight that occurred last night. They argued about miscellaneous things — mostly Gray — but Natsu provided a snarky comment every once in a while. She ignored it for the most part until the two knuckleheads made the genius decision to involve her.
"Lucy! I won the pillow fight right?!" They chorused, Gray being the louder one while Natsu settled on glaring at him venomously.
Lucy slammed her fork on the counter, turning around with a sickly sweet smile that looked too forced to be true and dead eyes that stared straight into their souls.
