They had recovered Freed, Bixslow, Ever, and Ichiya from the rubble quickly with Jet's speed. They were back at the guild within minutes. They were alive, but only just barely.

Wendy had disappeared into the infirmary with Porlyusica and Carla, intent on helping with their injuries. Lucy had been shocked into silence, especially when she'd seen that half of Freed's lower left leg has been blown off.

This was war.

She tried not to flinch at the sound of Freed and Bixslow's screams of pain echoing from the back of the guild, Porlyusica and Wendy had to work fast to ensure that they could close the wound and somehow keep Freed on the mend. From what Lucy understood, one of Bixslow's eyes had been punctured by the glass, while Evergreen suffered serious blows to the abdomen. Ichiya had been the least wounded.

They'd protected him.

Laxus waited outside the infirmary, teeth gritted, as Mira stood next to him, holding his arm comfortingly. She bit her lip in worry, unsure of what words to say.

"Stay strong," Lucy heard Mira whisper to him, "they need you now. More than ever. You have to be strong for them."

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Alzack hold Bisca and Asuka a little tighter.

All Lucy wanted to do was curl up in Natsu's arms.

“Bosco got decimated by Alvarez’s army,” Warren said grimly, surrounded by Macao, Wakaba, Mavis and Master, who all listened to him attentively, “but Sabertooth and Blue Pegasus are headed to the north while Mermaid Heel and Lamia Scale are traveling to the south. Somehow the army managed to take over Hargeon, so they’re planning on driving them out.”

“We can’t be in all places at once, we need help,” Macao sighed, “they’re coming for us.”

“Yes, I agree,” Mavis frowned, staring at the floor thoughtfully, “this is an awful position for the other guilds but their strength will aid our efforts in pushing back Alvarez and Zeref.”

“Master,” Gajeel interjected with a polite tone, “I think we should go out and help. I don’t like the feeling of having other guilds fight for us. We got this, just gotta give ‘em a good pounding first.” He smirked, cracking his knuckles menacingly. “Especially after what they did to the Thunder Legion, they have it coming. Hard.”

“Yes, yes, just give me a moment to think about our best course of action, Macao, would you—“

The arrival of Natsu and Happy caught Lucy’s attention, they strolled in leisurely as if it was any other regular day. Lucy ran to them, crashing into Natsu roughly, but the dragon slayer caught her easy, stable on his feet. She buried her face into the crook of his neck, thanking the heavens that they allowed him to return back to her unharmed.

“They got Freed, Bixslow, Ever, and Ichiya, Natsu,” Lucy said when she pulled back from her bearhug assault, “they’re in really rough shape.” Lucy whispered.

Natsu raised an eyebrow, mouth opening to speak before Master called him over. Lucy reluctantly backed away, allowing Natsu to make his way over to the table where everyone was stationed, other able members waiting around. Stubbornly, she followed behind him, curious as Mavis began assigning people their stations for north and south to help the other guilds with the Alvarez assault.

Natsu was assigned to provide assistance to the south, to Lucy’s dismay.

She was the only one to not get an assignment alongside Cana.

Mira, Laxus, Gray, Erza and Juvia prepare to leave as Lucy approached Mavis timidly.

“Um, First Master, where do I go?” Lucy asked.
