The Last Goodbye
I gave you my heart like an open book,
with every page bare, waiting for you.
I stood there in the silence, hoping,
but you left me reaching for shadows.
You wore love like a fleeting promise,
one that slipped between words unsaid.
I kept believing,
though the truth was clear—
I was always chasing a fading light.I wanted to believe you’d come around,
thought my patience could bring you back.
I held on, clinging to empty warmth,
but you never saw the cost.
I waited in the dark too long,
hoping for a love that was never there.
And now, the silence feels kinder
than the hollow sound of “I’m sorry.”I’m done with half-truths and broken faith,
done with apologies that mean nothing.
You held my heart like something small,
something to keep until you moved on.
But now, I take it back—piece by piece,
each shard a reminder of what I deserve.
I’ll hold it close and mend it gently,
for love is worth more than waiting.I let go of the weight of wanting you,
the endless ache of what might have been.
I see now that love can’t live in shadows,
it needs light and truth to grow.
So, this is the end, my last goodbye,
to the dream of us, the hope I held.
I walk forward with a heart set free,
knowing love begins where I am whole. One day, I’ll find a love unbroken,
one that holds me without letting go.
I’ll know the warmth of steady arms,
the quiet strength of a lasting promise.
But for now, I find peace in myself,
and in the strength you left behind.
This goodbye's my beginning-
a first step toward love that’s true.
