Chapter Nine: A Day for us The morning sunlight crept through the curtains, filling the room with a warm, gentle glow. Y/N stirred awake first, glancing over to see Jenna still curled up next to him, her face peaceful and relaxed. He couldn't help but smile, gently brushing a stray strand of hair from her face as he lay beside her, enjoying the quiet of the early morning.
After a few minutes, Jenna began to wake, blinking slowly as her eyes adjusted to the light. She stretched and turned to Y/N, a sleepy smile spreading across her face. "Good morning," she murmured, her voice groggy but soft.
"Good morning," he replied, leaning down to give her a quick kiss. "Sleep well?"
She nodded, letting out a content sigh. "Thanks for taking care of me last night. I don't even remember how we got home."
Y/N chuckled, rubbing her back gently. "Let's just say you were having a good time. I'm glad you had fun, though."
As they lay in bed, savoring the quiet, Jenna's stomach rumbled, breaking the silence. She laughed, covering her face with her hands in embarrassment. "Guess that's my body's way of saying it's time for breakfast."
Y/N smiled, sitting up. "Why don't you relax while I make us something? I owe you breakfast in bed."
Her eyes sparkled at the idea. "Sounds amazing. Don't keep me waiting too long, though. I'm starving."
He laughed and got out of bed, heading to the kitchen as Jenna snuggled back into the covers. As he began to cook, he could hear her humming softly from the bedroom, the sound comforting as he whipped up a simple but delicious breakfast — scrambled eggs, toast, and avocado with some fresh fruit on the side. He arranged everything on a tray, making sure it looked perfect before carrying it back to her.
Jenna's face lit up as he entered the room. "You are the best, you know that?" she said, sitting up and giving him a warm smile.
"Only the best for you," he replied, setting the tray on her lap.
They ate together, talking about the night before and sharing laughs over some of the moments they barely remembered. After finishing breakfast, Jenna stretched and looked at him with a mischievous smile. "So, what's the plan for today?"
Y/N shrugged, leaning back against the headboard. "Well, we could just relax... or we could do something fun. It's a Saturday, so we have the whole day ahead of us."
Her eyes lit up. "How about a day out? I want to just... explore, you know? Maybe grab lunch, walk around, do something spontaneous."
He grinned. "Sounds perfect. Let's get ready, and we'll make a day of it."
After breakfast, they both got dressed, each opting for comfortable, casual outfits. Y/N pulled on a pair of jeans and a soft T-shirt, while Jenna slipped into a sundress, her hair tied up in a messy bun. They were out the door in no time, stepping into the bustling streets of Los Angeles, hand in hand.
They started their adventure by heading to a nearby farmer's market. Stalls filled with fresh produce, colorful flowers, and handmade crafts lined the street. Jenna's eyes lit up as they passed a stall selling freshly squeezed juices, and they each grabbed a drink, wandering from vendor to vendor, admiring the different wares. Jenna spotted a vendor selling jewelry and picked up a simple silver ring, slipping it onto her finger with a satisfied smile.
After the market, they headed to a little cafe they'd heard about but hadn't tried yet. The place was cozy, with small tables scattered across the patio, shaded by large umbrellas. They ordered sandwiches and coffees, taking their time as they ate and people-watched, enjoying the laid-back atmosphere.
As they finished their meal, Jenna suddenly looked at him, her eyes bright. "Let's go to the beach. It's too nice of a day not to."
He laughed. "I love that idea, but... we didn't bring anything."
She shrugged. "We'll go barefoot and just walk along the shore. Besides, we don't need much — just each other."
He couldn't argue with that, so they headed toward the beach, arriving just as the afternoon sun cast a warm glow over the sand. They kicked off their shoes, carrying them as they walked along the shoreline, the waves gently lapping at their feet. Jenna reached down to pick up a small seashell, turning it over in her hands before tucking it into her pocket.
"Souvenir," she said with a grin.
They spent hours walking and talking, sharing stories and laughing. The day felt timeless, and neither of them wanted it to end. Eventually, as the sun started to dip lower in the sky, they sat down on the sand, watching the waves roll in. Jenna leaned her head on Y/N's shoulder, a peaceful silence settling between them.
"This is perfect," she murmured. "Just us, here, away from everything."
He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer. "I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
They stayed there until the sky turned pink and orange, watching the sunset in comfortable silence. As the beach started to empty, Y/N pulled out his phone and took a quick photo of the two of them, capturing the moment. Jenna leaned in to see, smiling at the picture.
"That's a keeper," she said, nudging him playfully.
As they made their way back to their apartment, they stopped at a small ice cream shop, indulging in cones as they strolled through the dimly lit streets. By the time they reached home, they were both happily exhausted from the day's adventures.
Back inside, they changed into comfortable clothes, collapsing onto the couch together. Jenna curled up against him, sighing contentedly. "Today was exactly what I needed," she whispered.
He stroked her hair gently, smiling. "Me too. Let's do this more often."
They sat there in quiet companionship, the day's memories replaying in their minds. The simple joys, the laughter, the closeness — it was all perfect.
