Chapter Twelve: Shared Surprises

Night had fallen over the set, and with filming wrapped up for the day, Y/N found himself carrying Jenna in his arms. She'd drifted off during the last scene change, exhausted from the intense schedule. Now, he was carefully cradling her, wrapped in his jacket for extra warmth, her face nestled into his chest as she slept peacefully.

The cool night air bit at his face as he walked through the quiet lot, but he barely noticed. His focus was entirely on her, ensuring each step was gentle, each movement careful so he wouldn't disturb her sleep. The shared trailer finally came into view, its small porch light casting a soft glow, beckoning them back to the warmth inside.

Once inside, he gently laid her on the bed. Jenna stirred slightly, mumbling in her sleep but not waking. Y/N let out a breath, smiling at how peaceful she looked. Knowing she'd be more comfortable in her pajamas, he decided to change her without waking her up, a careful feat he was determined to pull off.

Slowly and with utmost precision, he managed to slip her into her pajamas, keeping his gaze averted as best as he could. It took every bit of focus he had, but somehow, he managed without disturbing her, slipping the soft fabric over her shoulders and adjusting it until she looked completely at ease.

With a tired but content sigh, Y/N quickly changed into his own sleepwear. The day had been long, and all he wanted was to lie beside her, to lose himself in the calm of the moment. He slipped under the covers, careful not to jostle the bed, but almost immediately Jenna instinctively shifted, seeking out his warmth. She draped her arm over his chest and shifted one of her legs up to rest across his abdomen, her body curling into his side.

Y/N's heart warmed as he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. He gently placed his hand on her thigh, giving it a soft, reassuring squeeze. With his other arm, he adjusted the covers to make sure she was fully tucked in, her head resting perfectly against his shoulder.

Jenna murmured something softly, half-asleep but content, snuggling deeper into his side. Her hair tickled his chin, and he couldn't help but smile as he pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head, feeling the steady rise and fall of her breathing against him. The room was silent, save for their soft breathing, a peaceful rhythm that lulled him into a sense of comfort and belonging.

Lying there, Y/N felt the weight of the day lift away. This—being with Jenna, wrapped up in each other, away from the world—was all he needed. And with his arms securely around her, he let himself drift off, feeling the warmth of her beside him, anchoring him in a way that felt like home.

Hours later, the tranquility of the night was shattered by a sudden gasp. Y/N jolted awake, his heart racing as he felt Jenna's body tense against his. She was shaking, her breath coming in short, panicked gasps, and he quickly turned to face her.

"Jenna?" he murmured, concern flooding his voice as he gently shook her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. You're okay. Wake up."

She blinked rapidly, tears welling in her eyes as she tried to process her surroundings. "Y/N?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "I... I had a nightmare."

Without hesitation, Y/N shifted closer, wrapping both arms around her to draw her into a warm embrace. "I'm right here. You're safe," he reassured her, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "What happened?"

"I don't remember... it was just... dark and scary," she admitted, burying her face into his shoulder, the warmth of his body slowly calming her racing heart. "I thought I lost you."

His heart ached at her words, and he tightened his grip, as if holding her a little closer could chase away the remnants of her fear. "You're not going to lose me," he promised softly. "I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere. I promise."

Jenna let out a shaky breath, her body relaxing as she leaned into him. "I just... I felt so alone."

"You're never alone," he whispered, brushing her hair back from her face. "I'll always be here for you. No matter what."

The words hung in the air, a soothing balm for her frayed nerves. After a few moments, her breathing began to steady, the warmth of his presence soothing her fears. She looked up at him, her eyes glistening in the dim light. "Thank you, Y/N. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Y/N smiled gently, tilting her chin up so their eyes met. "You'll never have to find out." He brushed his thumb across her cheek, wiping away the stray tear that had fallen. "Let's just focus on the now, okay? We're together. That's all that matters."

With a small nod, Jenna allowed herself to relax further into him, finding solace in his words and his embrace. "Can we stay like this for a while?"

"Of course," Y/N replied, adjusting their positions so that she was nestled comfortably against him. He wrapped his arms securely around her, feeling her warmth seep into him. "As long as you need."

They remained like that for a while, lost in each other's presence, the night slowly slipping back into a comfortable silence. Jenna's eyelids grew heavy, and she could feel her heartbeat returning to a normal rhythm as Y/N gently stroked her hair.

"Y/N?" she murmured sleepily.

"Yeah?"

"I love you," she whispered, her words a soft promise in the stillness of the night.

He smiled, warmth spreading through his chest. "I love you too, Jenna. Always."

With that, she finally drifted back to sleep, and Y/N felt his own eyelids growing heavy. As he held her close, he vowed to be there for her, ready to chase away the darkness and fill her life with light. Together, they would face whatever came their way.
